About a year ago I purchased new NT555 tires for my Cobra with 18x9 Cobra R wheels. I was worried about rub and bought 245/40/18 for the front, but they are too narrow and I hate how it looks. What would be a better size NT555 for the front wheels that would fit better (width)?

275/35 is my choice but 265/40 was the factory size on the 2000 Cobra R right?

I see too many people putting a smaller tire on the front and it never made sense to me. 235, 245, 255, 265...

If you screw up and go by the tire manufacturers size guidance it makes sense. Then you have em mounted and make that WTF face

What car are you putting this wheel/tire on?

I have 285's on the front of my Cobra and 305's on the rear, never had any rubbing issues. Unfortunately my front rims are 18x9 so the 285's have a little too much "extra" for my tastes if you know what i'm trying to say, but the backs are perfect at 305. Just my 2 cents.

96’ Cobra with tubular k-member and coil overs.

Nice cobra you have. An old friend of mine had a 97 Cobra and ran a 265/35r18 on the front with an 18x9 Saleen style wheel. Seems like he would still experience some occasional rub with his tire size. He was lowered though. An 18x9 wheel will easily fit a 275/35r18 if you have the inner wheel well clearance to run it. Offset of the wheel, camber, and how much the car is lowered if any will come into play.

I had 18x9.5, 10mm on my 97

275/35 up front and 285/35 in the rear.

Previous owner had 245/40's on, did not like how those fit at all. I think some people do that because it's a cheaper option.

I can’t remember where I searched for it, but did it to minimize rubbing… but it could use a little more to have better fitment.

You didn’t say what your rear tire size is but I recall that on that body style a 295/35r18 is about as wide as the car will accept without rubbing the tailpipes. An equivalent front tire height wise to the 295/35r18 would be a 255/40/r18. I at one time ran these sizes on my 03 cobra with a 10.5 rear rim and 9.0 front. Tires were Bfgoodrich gforce ta’s that seemed to run a little wider than average. That tire design is no longer offered by bfgoodrich any longer though. I think Michelin does still offer both sizes though.

285’s I’m the rear but I also don’t have tail pipes currently as the mufflers are dumped.
