Praying that those without power get it restored soon, and that those whose homes were damaged will have their lives restored as soon as possible. Such devastation in some of the hardest hit areas. Some of the photos I've seen look like a massive tornado tore through neighborhoods.

People here are still living in campers and dont have roofs, ceilings etc. Those who will make a claim, contact yall insurance companies asap and keep on bugging them. It can take a very very long time. And make sure you have a carbon monoxide detector inside if you or someone around you has a generator.

What upsets me the most about this other than the loss of life, destruction, humanitarian crisis evolving, the animals, etc., is that they may be lucky to receive a couple billion dollars in federal aid, while we have blew through almost $100 billion on a war in Ukraine that we have no business being involved in. The priorities of our federal government should upset anyone no matter your political leanings.

We have an obligation them to help them in my humble opinion.

A better argument would have been the money thrown at student loan forgiveness, but I really want to keep politics out of this thread. Absolutely no need for it.

Thanks.

From Ft. Myers:
Storm surge is no joke. When Hurricane Ike hit here in '08 it was only Cat 2 but it was moving so fast it had a 17.5' storm surge. They said it created "the largest freely-propagating shelf wave ever reported." It basically wiped Bolivar Peninsula next to Galveston off the map. I really feel for those affected in Florida.

Born and raised Brockton. Living in Naples.
I was checking the area out on Google Maps a few days ago and notices about 1000 houses on these little islands. I knew it was gonna devastate them.

Those barrier island people really are into punishment. I’ve visited up there many times and it’s beautiful to visit. But to live there. Nope. It’s not for me.

On a good note the power came back on my home last night but no Internet or cable. Comcast here in Naples gets the signal from Fort myers so it could be awhile but I’ll survive. Electricity is king.

Not for nothing but **** Europe. We owe them nothing. That’s all. No politics. Back to the hurricane.
Good luck to all my Florida peoples.

Sanibel is toast with major disconnects in the roadway leading to the island. The amount of damage in Ft. Myers and Naples along the coast is still yet to be seen. Reports are that some of the Condo buildings along the beach had water up to mid second level.
