I whole heartedly do, however I just put a down payment on a wedding reception venue this past Tuesday so if I can get the money for it then I will have to let it go.
I sold my ‘04 Cobra to be debt free (pay off the wedding/honeymoon) back in ‘06 and I’ve regretted it ever since.
Big expensive weddings are by definition a waste.
If you got it great but it’s not worth selling a car that’s special to you over.
Now if you’re fine saying it’s just a car and you’ll get a new toy in a few years then that’s different. But if it’s truly special to you then keep it and go budget on the wedding.
I’ve been married 17yrs this coming January and the honeymoon to Hawaii was worth it but the big wedding not so much.
I’d rather still have the ‘04 I bought new.

Came here to echo that sentiment. Big weddings are a huge waste of time and money. Guaranteed to see atleast one bridesmaid, or bride, go absolutely insane over something stupid. Nothing will ever be "good enough". Use that money as a down payment on a house instead.
But, it's your future wife not mine ;)
Good luck on the wedding, but keep the car. You will always wish that you had kept it. Just read every WTB, "finally got a terminator", or any discussion on these cars and you will find someone who "wishes they kept it".

I will further add to this that big weddings are a waste. We spent around $10k for ours and honeymooned in Finland for thanksgiving.

The only reason a man should ever sell his car is for if he falls on tough times and needs to provide for his kids. Never sell for just the woman. You’re going to regret this in the future if you ever get divorced.

Exactly. The woman can also dance for money. Or work at McDonalds :)
Hell mine has a masters in engineering and she’s a domestic engineer :)

So I’m unsure how much of an odd ball I am on this sentiment. However I’m 30, I’m not married, and don’t have children. So I’ve never truly had to come to face a wedding, or children. So I can’t offer advice to you on the subject matter. However I can agree to what I’ve learned from people who’ve had weddings. They always look back and say they wished they put the money from their wedding into the honeymoon fund, or something for them. Nevertheless I wish you happiness, and I hope if you do end up selling the car you’ll be able to replace the car with something as special. I’ll say this. “My cars never woke up and told me that didn’t love me, or slept with my friend”. All kidding aside, Goodluck man.

That last quote is the harsh reality of the risk you take when you decide to get married.

I agree with you both 100% but you cannot tell a woman that lol.
To them a $6000 supercharger and $3000 fuel system is as equally a waste of money.

In all seriousness it’s a little different situation than the norm for me. Next year will make 20 years for us, we are approaching our 40’s, we already have the house and two kids. The only thing left that we have not done is the marriage thing and she has wanted it forever all while I have been spending my money on cars.
I’m finally at that point where I’m willing to sacrifice my car obsession for her to have the wedding that she wants.

With that said we will make it work regardless with or without the sale of the car, but the sale would certainly help and ease the financial burden of it.

Still not a good enough reason, lol.

In all honesty man, good luck with your sale. Enjoy the cash and wedding when you do sell. It’s the right price for me just the wrong color.

Holy Crap $10,000 for an entire wedding?
I’m spending $15,000 for just the venue alone and that was one of the cheapest places we could find.

Massachusetts sucks.
