Its been a long while since I have posted here :) I have an Eaton swapped 01 Cobra. Its time for a transmission and I would like to do a 6 speed swap. I think it would be a nice upgrade to the car and improve its street manners. Do you need to shorten the drive shaft to fit that? I know I need clutch, shifter, what else? Any of you guys do this?

The clutch depends on if you do the 26 spline input shaft. If you keep the 10 spline input shaft you can run whatever clutch you have now. Unless you need a new one anyway. The driveshaft will need to be shortened. I managed to find one out of a wrecked 03 and used a hybrid U joint to run the 01 pinion flange. It might be worth upgrading to the 03/04 pinion flange. You'll need the shifter of your choice. I believe the trans mount is different. Though I think Stifflers will be your only choice unless you can get one off another car. And some way to turn off the reverse lockout. Or use the one I saw posted here that replaces the solenoid with a manual set up.

Yup..the 99-01 cobras had a 44.5" DS with the t45/3650...And I think the T56 needs a 43.5"
Luckily the 43.5" is the more common length..iirc..

Great info here! I will be doing the same next winter. Did not realize the flanges were different. Most likely will change the flange since I plan on doing gears at the same time as the T56 swap

ya I am doing the 6 speed because I have 4.10 gears and really its too much gear with the Eaton swap. Anything else I need to be aware of? Drive Shaft, Flange, maybe mounts, reverse lock out, 26 spline upgrade with clutch, shifter.

A new magnum comes with a shifter and 26 spline input shaft. I highly recomend staying with that stock magnum shifter. (A lot of info in links below.) If you dont buy a kit you will need a new 26 spline clutch plate, A 2003--03 cobra bell housing, shortend drive line and a 03--04 cobra rear transmission mount and a spedo adaptor plug. I dont recommend the Stiflers mount as Tremec recommends the stock rubber mount---it reduces vibration, I got the stock mount off of ebay, you need the full cross mount. I did go with a kit from D and D. which comes with aluminum drive line, steel bell housing and spedo adapter plug. It doesnt come with the 26 spline clutch plate, you have to buy that separate. Or maybe even a new clutch kit with pressure plate if yours is high mileage and/or worn out.

Here is the clutch plate I went with,
