My bud has 540k on his 03.
I'm sure he'd pay $15k+ for that one.

Thanks man. I love hearing that. The seller posted a FS thread and someone called him 2 minutes later and said he’d take it. I was next in line 30 minutes later and he had two other people after me within an hour. One even offered to put a deposit on it, just in case I didn’t come through.

The used truck market is unreal.

Death wobble fix for a Dodge is a Thuren (or Carli & Synergy) track bar from what I’ve seen. I’ve already got the updated steering on my 3rd gen and the 6 bolt Mopar box but I just ordered EMF rebuildable ball joints (fantastic btw as I’ve already installed a set for a friend) and the track bar.

If there is any play left I’ll do the Synergy steering upgrade as well. I already have a dual damper setup and it honestly made no difference but I can see deflection in the track bar bushings.

Yes, Thuren track bar and a good set of ball joints. I did the Carli’s on my 2012. Great build quality. I also did the Thuren track bar, but I never had death wobble with any of my Ram’s. Now the 2017 Ford I have....let’s just say i about crapped my pants the first time I experienced bump steer that I thought was death wobble. I never ever had bump steer in my 2012, but the stock ball joints were shot at 19,000 miles and again at 44,000. That when I put the Carli’s in.

BTW @_Snake_, that is an awesome looking truck man! You’ll get more attention in that thing where I live than you would in a new GT500.

I met the seller this am, reviewed the PPI, went over the truck closely, and took it for a test drive before finalizing things. We got well aquatinted on the 9 hour, 500 mile ride home and I’m a happy buyer. The truck drove predictably but could probably use a few components up front as there was a tiny bit of wandering. However, the engine and trans were flawless. The trans shifts smoothly, almost seamlessly, and the TC will lock in OD as soon as it shifts (around 45 mph). I wasn’t able to verify what was done during the trans rebuild, but I was super impressed.

Overall the truck was exactly as described and there were no disappointments. Other than not being able to buy it for $8k. Lol

Thanks all for the feedback and advice. I definitely appreciate it.

Here we are a little over a year later and I figured an update was due.

"The really hard part is going to be leaving it as is."

Truth.

Since bringing the truck home, I replaced the headlights, tail lights, 3rd brake light, cab lights, and fog lights. The K&N CAI is garbage to begin with and since this one was trashed, I bought a S&B CAI early on. The windows were in desperate need of a re-tint so I stripped the old stuff off and had everything done with ceramic, including a 50% layer on the windshield. The AC blend doors failed and the repair meant that I had to replace the dashboard (existing one looked like a jig saw puzzle.) Fortunately I found an OEM dash with no cracks already dyed the right color on Marketplace for $250. My luck is never that good and I really needed the deal at the time, so it worked out. With a new dash and working AC out of the way, I turned my attention to the tires and wheels after noticing two tires were D rated and two tires were E rated. No bueno. Since one of the steel wheels had a dent, I started searching and located a set of OEM aluminum 17's on Marketplace for $200. Marketplace to the rescue again! After they were mine, I mounted 35/12.50/17 Toyo AT III's and immediately realized how bad the steering was. Like not able to drive safely bad. In order, the truck received a new steering stabilizer, track bar, and ball joints (all from Carli). Each component made a noticeable difference, which only encouraged me to buy more stuff. A Synergy steering box brace went in followed by a Carli 3" leveling kit (new front coil springs and front and rear shocks). I have to admit I'm super impressed with how the truck rides/drives now. The shit ain't cheap, but its worth it.

Somewhere over the last year I also installed a set of newer style GM tow mirrors and a MM3 tuner with custom tunes and EGT probe from 5-9 Diesel. Going from SO hp to the equivalent of a tuned HO was arguably my best investment. The driver side seat cushion and cover were replaced as was a failed seat motor. I also installed a new starter (failing) and water pump (failed catastrophically).

Almost forgot. I also put in a B&W turnover ball.

Very nice truck! I had a 2005 in black that I loved. It was a standard cab, so I had to upgrade to a crew cab. She was a sweet truck. Thanks for posting an update on what you’ve done to her!

Not sure why but I love these generation of trucks. So much I just bought another 6.0 powerstroke. The early 00’s to ‘07 to me is the overall best of a few worlds. Pre emissions, overall simple motors you can easily work on, Plenty of power with some tuning the interiors are old but not too terrible. Plenty comfortable without a lot of extras.
