I am not buying the '21.

It's a brand new car with only 3 miles on the clock. The only 2 things I don't like about the car, but I can live with are the rocker panel stripes, which I can peel off or have the ceramic coating/wrap shop take them off. And the other is the Recaro seats. Call me crazy, but I would rather have the heated/cooled seats, even though I would never use that feature.

I totally understand what you re saying. 100% and I agree.

I actually messaged Nick, aka, @13COBRA twice in the past. His ADM was only $3,500 for the 2020 GT500, IIRC, which is pretty damn good.
If that’s all on a car you want with 3miles I’d say buy it and trade/sell Recaros.
Hell I’d buy you brand new base seats, drive them to you and swap them for the Recaros. Serious. :)
Good luck!

Doubtful.

All vehicles are insanely inflated right now.

I sold a 2016 F250 Platinum with 14k miles for $1400 more last week than I sold it for new back in 2015.

I agree it’s crazy.

Also I believe the ‘22 GT500 MSRP is higher than ‘21?
Just for guys looking at ‘21 vs ‘22

With those inflated prices on used cars (and many new ones) comes bigger loans. When the market eventually corrects itself, many owners are going to their resale values tank. Do you agree, Nick, or do you see used car values staying at these record levels?

Correct. Base price (w/o commie gas guzzler tax) comparison:

'21 - $70,300
'22 - $73,465

An increase of $3,165, or 4.5%. Something to consider if you find a '21 on the lot vs. ordering a '22.

Any significant changes from 21' to 22'? Jeez 4.5% increase, they can keep em at this rate

EVERY vehicle went up from what I saw.
FCA lost our Pacifica hybrid build and from June to October it went up $3800!
Exact same build/spec.
‘Quarterly adjustment’ I was told

They won't keep trending up like they are, but it'll level out to about where we are now.

You won't ever see prices like two years ago on a vehicle.

It's just crazy what Car prices have inflated to the past couple years. Like you said @CobraBob - there are folks who are overspending and at some point the market has to have a correction - IMO!

I'm starting to wonder if that is why you are seeing so many used - 1 year old Cars on the market? Owners know they can't pay $1,000K+ monthly payments on these cars and bailing, make whatever money they can and bolt.

Either way, I'll just hunker down a few months - save another few thousand and pay mostly cash come Spring or Summer time.

One other note, I have been watching ALOT of 2020s and notice they sit for months ($90K-$92K range) until the price drops to around the $85K-$87K mark and then they sell. That may be the price point these 2020s level off at. Just a guess.

With interest rates as low as they are, you'd be silling to pay cash.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.
Not sure if I'm going to go for it. I can live wit the Recaro seats, not really a deal breaker. I can live with them.

It's funny you posted this today. Someone reached out to me today from the dealership as well. Too funny.

Well, I'm just trying to avoid a 700+ month car payment. Figured I'd put the money down from selling my 2013 and a little cash on top. Finance $20K -$25K and borrow on my $401K.

I'm open for other suggestions or better ideas for sure?

Do not borrow on your 401k unless you have a crystal ball saying the fund/market it’s tied to will pay less than auto financing will cost you.

I just traded my 2020 in on a 2021 Durango Hellcat. The dealership gave me $4k over msrp and listed it for $10k over. My 2020 had 10k miles on it. Finding one @ that 5k over price point is going to be tough but not out of the question. Honestly I couldn't see paying over msrp on a used vehicle, I was ok w/ the $5k over I paid on the 2020 as I ordered it so it was optioned exactly how I wanted.

How did you like the 2020? What color is it?

What dealership so I can be on the lookout for it?

I'm with you, paying a steep ADM on a used car thats 2 years old now is just not smart money, but nothing in this society is smart or common sense anymore.

If it were me, I wouldn't be borrowing against my 401k. That's just me.
Especially just for a car. UNLESS,...................it's a GT3.

Loved the 2020, unfortunately my kids out grew it otherwise I'd still have it. I traded it in to Firkins CDJR in Bradenton FL. It's Rapid Red w/ the painted black roof. I babied it so its a good buy, it has full front end PPF and Is ceramic coated..

Help me understand why it's not a good idea to borrow on your own money(401K) and pay the interest back to your fund instead of giving it to a bank?

Wouldn't be borrowing $100K from it, more like $20K against it.

Yeah, you can do that. Definitely better than paying a bank.
I don't even want to touch mine till retirement time. Another 17 years,.....God help me. LOL
I was talking about me, not telling you to not do it. Good luck with the search man. I still search, but off and on. Not as much as I once did.
