While I agree that time is of the essence, obviously, it is not that simple.

Instead of assuming whether or not someone is a lil bitch, perhaps you should educate yourself on policies and procedures for police response to active shooter situations.

Yes, nobody wants to wait. But what good does it do if an officer responds alone and is killed? Now, the shooter/shooters have another weapon, ammo, and can monitor radio traffic.

Typically, a response team is compromised of no less than 4 officers. This is not just for the safety of the officers, but to increase the probability of success in stopping the threat.

Some people may not like it, but don't blame police for the actions of others.
As law enforcement and trained on active shooter response Im well aware of how you are to react. He was a lil bitch. But go on.

As for the parent....are there any laws keeping your guns out of reach from your children? Do you think a gun safe with no access to children should be in place? Should this parent be held responsible in some aspect?

gun owners are required to keep them secure and away from access to minors and others not legally allowed to access/posses it. If nothing else that's why they come with keyed trigger/slide locks. When things like this happen I absolutely think those that allowed access should get the book thrown at them.

and all the public schools in Central Florida have at least one if not two armed police officers as school resource officers.

I don’t know a fraction of the facts behind this story, but I will say that “social media” is a shit storm.

Idiots (see: most kids 10ish-18) find/have/make access to a dozen platforms daily.

Without getting too specific, there was a “weird kid issue” at the school my kids go to (k-5, middle, high, all in one connected building) and the school sent out a message in the middle of the day saying there had been discussion on social media sites the prior evening.

Thats how ****ed things are, around noon the following day we learned about these threats from the previous night. Even learned several students in the HS grades didnt attend that day. This is a middle class, semi-rural, average school.

Shit is just ****ed these days. I have 2 boys in school now and another one close to preschool, I just teach them to be kind to other human beings even if they happen to be pieces of shit. But don’t be a floor mat either.

Yes, it is! Just wait until Facebook evolves into Meta. The negative effects of social media will just get worse.

Your advice to your boys about being kind to others but don't be a floor mat is excellent.

At the very least, Dad should be doing the perp walk ASAP. Who knows about Mom. Judging a book by its cover, all three look like weirdos.

There are some crappy parents in the world. Fifteen is still a punk kid and that's how he turned out? Failure was an option for those people.

I agree with you 100%. Besides, having an armed officer at every school in this country would be impossibly prohibitive. In this day and age, at the bare minimum, every school should have metal detectors. And there should be minimal entry points, all with metal detectors. I would bet that taxpayers would be very willing to pay for them within their school districts. I know I would. But with those metal detectors must be strong security policies and procedures.
This is where I adamently dissagree. Tons of cops and fire for that matter get to pull pension at 55 or lower because of time or other, and most of those guys would be well aware and capable of maintaining the peace at school. Little johnny would be a lot less likely to pull this crap if he knew old Bill and Bob were packing every day, waiting to get to retire like the rest of us. You think we cant afford thesse guys, but we are already paying them, just not using them. I'm pro cop and fireman, but the retirement system basicly puts them out to pasture way too soon, at least in commie Illinois.

So he'll be charged as an adult..good.

laws can’t keep guns out of reach of children... responsible parents do. The government should never have a say on how you keep things stored at home, but I do agree that in case shitty parents allow their kids to access guns, there should be a hefty price to pay. One that mirrors the offense committed by the child (if any).

So in this case, dad should face time in prison equivalent to that of murder charges.
