Double check your tires

This isn't Shelby related, but I just purchased new tires for my Land Rover Discovery, 275/55r20"s. They messed up on the install and put on 3 - 275/60's. This will end up being a $200 plus mistake on their part. The oversized tires ended up snapping off part of my body trim. They could not give a reason as to why they installed 3 wrong tires. I'm waiting on the part to come in and get installed, but my Discount Tire dealer said that they will make things right and pay for the repairs to my Land Rover.

Since the dealer couldn't give me a reason for the mishap. This is just a reminder to double check your tires before you leave the shop. So you don't run into the same problem.

Good advice. One of the things I like about buying tires at Costco is that the customer has to go to the tire department inside the store, buy the tires, and physically take them on a dolly cart to the installation garage. That gives you the opportunity to check to ensure the size is correct on all four tires.

Lol @ the reason they installed the wrong tires. Pretty obvious because they ****ed up.

Another thing to check either before, or after install, is the DOT (date manufactured) code. I have purchased brand new tires and the rears had a production date of over 5 years. Even the tech at discount was amazed and contacted Continental direct and fixed the issue quickly. He said that they usually advise replacement regardless of mileage at 5-6 years after manufacture. He also admitted that they rarely (if ever) look at DOT dates on new tires and I understand completely. In my case I was replacing perfectly good looking tires that were over 10 years old (safety)

I have been lucky and the Discount tire in my area has been absolutely fantastic as far as service and installation.

Now I always make sure to check every tire to make sure it has been manufactured at least within 365 days of purchase. For those of us who drive some of our performance cars sparingly over the years 'new' old tires are already a ticking clock that I would prefer to have a little more time on as rubber does degrade over time even if they are stored and sealed.

I prefer to buy my tires at Costco for their excellent warranty and service, and great installation. They will also, for a nominal fee, replace all of the air in your tires with nitrogen. And if you need it, our Costco has two nitrogen pumps outside.

Feel bad for you guys who don't have your own machines. I send a lot of tires back that want too much weight or are flat out not round.

Since 2002 I've ordered from discount tire for all my needs. I would normally go 3rd party or mount the tires my self.

With my 2013, my wheels are reverse mount and was looking at a 2 hour trip to Augusta to have my R888's installed.

Discount Tire just built a new location 5 blocks form my house. Expecting to be let down, I inquired about having the "right machine" and experienced guy(s) to mount my tires. To my surprise they handled my business and now I will not go anywhere else.

This is in Pooler, Georgia
