Get Loaded Up | It's Time to Head to ModNats 2021

Do you feel that? Can you hear it? Fall is in the air. The days are getting shorter (isn’t pitch black darkness at 6:00pm fun?) and the evening air is getting much cooler. That can only mean one thing, BOOST WEATHER!!! It’s that time of the year when forced induction records are broken and new hero setups are made. That’s exactly what we’re expecting to happen during the 2021 Edition of the highly popular Mod Nationals race (Nov 11th-14th, 2021 in Adel, GA - South Georgia Motorsports Park).

Mod Nat is the brain child of Justin Young and Ozzy Moya, who back in 2016 set out to create a new Modular V8 based drag racing event to do one thing, take care of the racers. Justin and the crew take pride in putting on an event that features some of the best Modern Ford Powered racing action to be found anywhere, while also providing some of the highest winner payouts around. Those payouts are made possible in large part by the Mod Nats crew snagging quite a few high profile sponsors from the Ford Powered Community; including (but not limited to):

  • Accufab
  • Beefcake Racing
  • Evolution Performance
  • FatHouse Fabrications
  • HP Tuners
  • J2 Fabrication
  • Lund Racing
  • McLeod Clutches
  • MGW Shifters
  • Steeda
  • SunCoast Performance
  • VMP Performance
  • Whipple Superchargers
  • and even SVTPerformance.com

To say we here at SVTP have been looking forward to this race is an understatement. We were all disappointed last year when, through no fault of the event organizers, ModNats 2020 fell victim to Covid shutdowns. However, the South is now wide open, life has mostly returned to normal, and ModNats 2021 is full-steam ahead. On top of that, the weather is looking like it’s going to be perfect for making some serious runs (dropping into the 50s at sundown). That combined with excellent track-prep should make for some excellent racing action.

If you’re interested in bringing your car out, there’s a class for pretty much everything:
  • Modular Outlaw
  • King of the 4v
  • Outlaw All Motor
  • 6R80/10R80 Class
  • Modular True Street
  • Battle of the Underdogs (2v vs 3v)
  • Open CompDriver Mod (Manual Only)
  • Heavy Street
  • Modular Truck
  • All Blower
  • N/T Shootout
  • All-Motor Grocery Getters
  • 2020+ GT500 Shootout
In addition to those classes, there’s a high likelihood of more than a few grudge races developing over the weekend. In any event, we hope to see a ton of SVTP members make appearances as racers and spectators. There’s quite a few Host Hotels in the area with deals with deals for ModNats attendees, and a full weekend pass is only $50. Don’t make excuses, get out and enjoy of the last big Ford-Centric racing events of the year. We’ll see you there.

I'm hoping the rain holds off. Temps look perfect. I'm hoping to shoot a few interviews for the channel.
I’ll be there to spectate and help my friend Scott Hasty in 6R and probably another class.

DA was dropping 350ft/hr this evening. Tomorrow is supposed to be even better. Cars are putting up ridiculous numbers.

Too bad the evening tune up couldn’t perform like the weather conditions :(
But here’s the first pass using a second gear leave.
And good to finally drink a beer with you Travis!

What class was Lund running and how did they end up?

Runner up to Scott Hasty. The final was insane. Scott blew the tires off at launch. Lund beat him off the line, but then the steering wheel came off in Senior's hands and he let out. When Scott noticed that he got back on it made it passed Lund FTW. It was nuts to see in person.

Man, I would have loved to watch that. Talked to Jr for a while Friday and Alex on Saturday but couldn't get back there Sunday. With the weather what it was I knew the times were going to be good.
