Where did you find the Shelby 1000 hood?

Ditto.
Funny thread bump from the 2 guys I was just going to text about finding an S1000 hood.
I know it’s frustrating Steve but it’ll be worth it.
If it helps anything it’s happen to many people (the crazy parts delays)
-J
Since I have been hunting for a 1000 hood for awhile and I'm on IG and Facebook I found a few guys that had replica 1000 hoods made by a fiberglass shop in Puerto Rico, the Shops name is JC S Fiberglass, they gave me the owners contact information, I found out he has a legit Shelby1000 hood from Shelby American that he replicates the hoods from.

After looking at the hoods made by him and the guys telling me how they fit like OEM I decided to call him up, the price of the hood was 1,400 plus shipping. It's a little expensive, but still cheaper than what Shelby American was charging. He's in the process of building it right now, he sent me a few pictures of it yesterday, it looks great so far.
Sorry to hear about the delays. What parts are causing this? Still the cams? Either way, I’m sure the negative experience will quickly be forgotten when you fire it up for the first time, and leave some long black stripes on the Phoenix roads… while most of our cars are hibernating in garages covered in snow!
The cams took almost 5 months to make from Comp Cams, JDM told me they had finally got them the middle of October. I was pretty annoyed about that. But it was completely out of there control and I understand that. But after talking with them they had said they hope to have the engine finished up by early November and have it sent back to me, I email them yesterday and they said it won't be finished till the end of November or later, I don't understand what's taking so long now, but it's annoying, especially since the engine was supposed to finished by late August, than September, than October than November and now it's looking like December. I get I'm not there only customer and I am understanding of that, but I did spend a lot of money with them and I want the engine back. I know once I start the car up with the new engine I'll forget about now long it took.

My friends 5.8 engine build was also delayed by cams and the time frames line up with Steve’s but his are not JDM.
Shows me the best Modular cam cores were the issue. And yes, not all cams are created equal :)

Who's building your friends engine? I almost went with L&M. But I've heard some negative things about them. So I went with JDM instead.

Nice find. Based on what I've heard about Shelby hoods, I hope your fits BETTER than OEM.

Thanks man, I hope it fits close to OEM. I remember my super snake hood fit like shit, so fingers crossed on this one. I'll post more pictures once it's finished. And this now gives me the option to go to a 3.6KB

Oh nice, a lot of guys have been using those cams lately. I guess it's good to hear I'm not alone in my frustration lol.

I'll attach a few pictures of the hood being made, and another finished hood on my buddy's GT500 with a 3.8 whipple.

JDM is a great company to do your motor.I bought their cams. Those are the best cams i ever heard for our cars.
Agreed, I'm still happy I went with them, it's just become frustrating that it's taken 3 to 4 months longer than expected and I was told I should have the engine back by early November and now there's no ETA and it's car season in AZ right now and I can't enjoy her.

I hear you on that,it took me over 2 months just to get their cams. You will really enjoy it when you get it.Because L&M engines ran out of sleeves it took my block almost 3 months to get sleeved.

It's my first engine build so I'm definitely finding everything out the hard way lol, but I'm sure in the end it will all be worth it.

Is your new engine finished yet? It's crazy how long manufacturing takes on some of of engine parts.

This discussion reminds me of when I was looking at body shops to paint my 68. Lead times were frequently in years, not months. Think of it as somewhat a rite of passage LOL

OP, do you know where that hood is being made? Looks like Central America or possibly south Florida? Either way looks great… I hope there are no issues with shipping. Large fragile objects like that make me nervous!

Nice man, what state are you in? It's prime driving weather in AZ right now so I really want to get mine running soon.

I feel like everything in the aftermarket world is slow as hell with any task, but I'm glade I'm not the only person dealing with this kinda stuff.

The hood is made in Puerto Rico, I was hesitant to use him. But after speaking with a few guys that have his hood and like it, I decided to give him a chance, hopefully I don't regret it lol.

Finally some good news from JDM, the engine is getting finished, man it's been a long wait but I feel like I'm finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. hopefully I'll have the engine back before the end of the year and the Shelby1000 hood should be showing up in the next few days.
