After recently moving, I decided I didn't want to put 100 miles a day on my 2020 Tremor. Not for fuel expense reasons, but to keep the Tremor for weekends and long trips.

I found this 2010 Ranger in Dallas, and had it shipped down. It arrived last night. It's 2 wheel drive (I don't need 2 4WD trucks) and has the 4.0L engine. Some sort of lift, with 285/75/16 tires and American Outlaw rims.

It need a few things. Brakes seem a bit weak, windshield washer doesn't spray fluid, head lights are foggy and door sill protectors and weather stripping need to be replaced.

Congratulations, those 2010s are becoming harder to find. The 4.0L was a good fit for those trucks since no v8 option.

Thanks. I test drove a 3.0L and it felt lacking. The 4.0L seems to do great on the highway and hills. Brought it to work this morning to test it out.
I agree the 3.0L left alot on the table in terms of climbing hills and getting on the freeway. The 4.0L with 3.73 or 4.10 gear option really keeps it in the sweet spot for hill climbing and getting on the freeways.

The 2.3L was really only good for around town stuff. Very popular for the auto parts stores.

Good candidate for a 7.3 swap....? :ROFLMAO:

Nice truck! Now you've got the best of both worlds!
I'm assuming its auto? How many miles on it?

Does it feel under geared? Swapping gears in a 2wd with 8.8 should be super simple! I think I have a low mile '07 GT500 diff laying around if ya want it.(although a clutch type diff might not be best depending on if you're doing anything off road)

I always forget they made the Ranger for that long. I had a 4.0 way back in my 98 explorer sport and it was a good motor overall. I think the rest of the truck rusted away around it when it went to my step sister in ohio

I drove it 50 miles into work today, up and down some small hills, and it felt fine power wise.

Yep, it's an automatic, and it has 91k miles on it.

I already ordered new front rotors and pads (Power Stop), new door sills and a new modular front bumper with a light loop.

I had a Mazda B4000 with the SOHC 4.0L , 4WD manual with the optional 3.73's and 31in tires.....with 600 miles on the odo went 16.30's in the 1/4 lol. Was a solid little truck. Those are even harder to find than the Rangers. I put 44k miles on it in a year and traded it in for a Mustang. I still miss it from time to time lol

Nice little truck, congrats. Best of both worlds.

I have a ranger as a daily too, I will say it took some getting used to getting in and out of it. I'm not a small guy and coming from a raptor (still have it), my back was stiff for weeks lol trying to adjust to the cabin on the smaller truck.

I hear ya, definitely feels tiny compared to my F250. But fun still!

5.0 swap it. :D

I always thought a 2.3L EcoBoost would make a fun swap into a 2wd reg cab manual Ranger.

An engine swap might be a big ask on something that is supposed to be a simple daily...(I was sort of joking about a 7.3 swap...but dimensionally it might fit the best?)

BUT! I wonder if we're gonna see 4.10's and LSD after the first time it gets stuck on wet grass?(that happened to me, one tire on driveway, one tire on wet grass = stuck. Ordered a LSD that night)

What are you seeing for cruise RPM at 70mph?

I put a new washer fluid pump in last night, new wipers and a new battery. Waiting on aftermarket bumper, rotors, pads, weather stripping and new dash center vents to get here.

Today, I found the thermostat housing is leaking, so working on fixing that now.

While crawling around on the bottom side of the truck, imagine my surprise to see this. Someone spent some money on this truck at one point.

Appears to be a FOX shock coil over setup with reservoirs up front.
