Stricter emissions for the 2022s, 10hp cut across the board. No mention of GT500. Anybody got any info?

Motor Trend article was referencing a Ford Authority piece which states the following:

"By contrast, the 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will continue to solider on with the same power figures from 2021, as that specialty model features the supercharged Ford 5.2L Predator V8, not the Coyote."

A 10hp drop ain't that bad. If the numbers drop further for 2023, then the concern heightens. But the sad truth is that those of us who don't want to see the demise of the ICE will be left to talking about how it used to be within a few years. Sucks!

10hp will mean zero in performance times...the amount of gas in your tank has a greater impact on your performance than that. If I was ford I wouldn't have even advertised that. lol
Yep.

They probably aren't the ones that made it a popular subject, but rather is was pulled from the SAE report.

Agreed, minimal performance impact, but a more significant emotional one.

For me at least, this is a tangible realization that we've reached the the high water mark for ICE, and the water is now starting to recede. I've been fortunate enough to not have experienced anything like this in my life, so this comes a definite disappointment to me.

I'm glad the Predator is not impacted but I'm bummed for the guys buying GTs and Mach 1s. 10 horse is minimal but in a game of numbers it's psychologically significant.

One of the mags said the Hellcat engine and its derivatives would be going away soon due to rising emissions compliance costs.

Ford is a pretty clever company from an engineering perspective they probably just didn't have time or the motivation to offset the slight loss for the '22 model year. In order to move the bar forward the '23 S650 GTs will have to have electric power to the front wheels.

The '22 GT500s will be the last ever ICE only top-dog performance model. This gen will be special when we all look back.

There will be no difference in performance. As I stated on another forum in 1993 Ford rated the GT/LX 5.0 205hp. It was no faster/slower that an 89-92 car and faster than a 94 GT.
In 2003 when the Mach 1 came out it was 305hp, in 2004 it was officially rated at 310 then back down to 305.
93 Cobra was 235, 94-95 was 240, some say the 93 Cobra put out more HP.
It’s much ado about nothing.
