So, on a beautiful New England day yesterday, I took my 2013 GT500 for a nice cruise. I hopped on the highway and and while cruising at 70-75 mph I hit the gas pretty hard, the tach rolled up and you can hear the ususal blower whine, but the car didnt hook up like usual, just spun. I did it again, same thing. Almost like wheel spin ( I'm at 717 rwhp) but at 70 mph? Car doesn't have any issue hooking up at slower speeds running through the gears other then the ususal tire spin, but on the highway, different story. I do have a smaller pulley and a Metco aux idler on it to take up any slack. Is it loose, tire spin at 70, new clutch time ?? Never had this issue before. Any advice would be helpful. TY

Sounds like clutch. With being in top gear is where you will notice it first. Any smell afterwards? At 70 you may not notice smell

Thanks so much for the input. Anyone have this clutch in there 13? Like it, change the feel of the car shifting over factory? I will be hooking up to factory tranny, do I need a new flywheel, etc ? Want to do a plug and play installation (not me, my mechanic) Looking at the McCleod RXT.

The RXT is a great clutch, I have it installed in my car. Be patient and go through the 500 mile break in process, it will last longer and perform better. After you break it in properly you can go stomp on it. It was especially difficult at red lights when some guy in a BMW M4 pulls next to you and wants to play, but you have to be a good boy and not abuse the clutch hahahaha

Clutch, exactly. A highway stomp in sixth gear is a great clutch test. McLeod RXT with Steel Flywheel just put in here. That's the first thing I did to test the new RXT.
Flywheel is not needed for the RXT1000 on a 13/14

Yes I have it.
I had Spec in my 2011 and my 2012, not a fan

Go RXT1000/Sprung Hub and you will reuse your factory flywheel. Resurface it
$$ Saved. Break it in properly and you will be rewarded. Zero noise or chatter. Feels just like stock, but grabs much better.
Also, install the Stainless Steel braided clutch line at same time
Any other questions, feel free to PM me.

lol, I purposely did not install my R888s until the break in was complete for that exact reason

Sure you can reuse the stocker I guess but I would strongly suggest a resurface on that flywheel if you go that route.

Taking your recommendations and going McCleod RXT 1000. Ready to pull the trigger, looking to see if any savings available, any vendors who carry it with a discount for SVT members ? Will be installed on my 2013 GT500. Let me know.

You will really like that clutch. As others have stated, do the 500 mile break in properly. Take it out for a couple of long rides following several multiple traffic light to traffic light rides to break it in. If you really try hard, you can real off those 500 miles in a weekend, I did. The really nice thing is, McLeod's are rebuild-able, so it can be the last clutch you ever buy.
