So it looks as if I’ll finally get to leave the people’s communist republic of CA.

So my question is since my 04 cobra has been registration state reffed as opposed to a tickted ref would I be able to register the car in AZ without much hassle or is this going to be a pain in the ass? I’m moving to the northern area, kingman to be precise so there isn’t any smog requirements.
Anyone who has dealt with a reffed car wether moving or purchasing would be appreciated.

Figured this section would get the widest possible views; mods can move this if necessary.

That would be a last resort after the car is already with me there; but if the car cannot be transferred and must be state reffed first it will open up a whole new can of worms. I’m sure someone on the forum has seen this at least as almost no search results I find are specific to the situation as this is something newer happening in CA.

I would call ADOT MVD to verify, but if you are moving to a NON emissions area in AZ like Kingman, all you should have to do is take your car to the MVD for a Level 1 inspection (VIN check and its free at the MVD) and that should be it. Welcome to the Free United States brother!

Alright so it should be easy then when I get my AZ DL… I have been to kingman multiple times over the past few months for interviews and the like and just was shocked how much the climate is just like my area of CA minus the retards. Even this up coming week it will be cooler than where I currently stay… just theres a lot less people shooting each other.

Kingman is pretty cool, especially with Lake Havasu so close! Yeah, its super easy, even if you were moving to the smog areas of Phoenix and Tucson. Whatever ****ery in California youve had to deal with as far as emissions effecting your registration in CA should be completely irrelevant in AZ.

I think the only thing that would ever hold oyu up is trying to bring in a salvage title to AZ. For that you'd need to pay $50 at an ADOT facility to have it checked for safety and road worthiness. If you passed the check, youd get a Restored title. But a CA Smog issue? Thats CA's ****in problem. Just need to check the VIN and that should be it in Kingman.

:D :D :D

welcome to heaven LOL. Seriosuly.

Go to a 3rd party place that does registration. You will need AZ "smog". you can have ANY mods you want. The key is: no check engine light. As long as you don't have a CEL, you should pass. Just smog it first, then go to MVD third party. Registration will prolly cost you 100 or 150. WELCOME TO HEAVEN.

THIS. ^

The one thing I don't like here in AZ, is that registration cost is based off an appraised value of your vehicle. They likely adopted this method and algorithm from CA unfortunately. My Focus ST was over $350/yr for registration, whereas my Lightning was around $60/yr. Cost me only $120/yr to register all 4 of my vehicles back when I was in FL, since their method is based on GVW. Miss that, but coming from CA, reg will probably look like a bargain to you here in AZ. Lol

Oregon registration fees are based on fuel mileage .
The better the mileage , the more you pay .
Ours is a 2 year deal, so my SD , v10 is about 75 a year , 05 Tl is 100 .

They'll just need a sworn pledge that you won't vote Democrat.
People like you irritate me; when I guarantee I vote redder than all those that make this statement hell my wife votes redder than most who make that statement; being born in a sh**hole doesn’t mean we got brainwashed. Most counties in california vote heavily red but is drowned out but the cancer that is LA and SF. SB county used to be blazing red but it’s become more and more blue due to people who can’t afford to be in LA anymore… LA is cancer and if people who have been fighting to keep CA red don’t leave and stop the cancer spreading in other areas first it will be unstoppable.

You definitely can’t; i’ve gone through many people already. It’s a retroactive ref from a previous owner, it’s not a ticket ref, this is on my registration. I’ve even talked to people who work for the BAR ref stations.

No the retroactive registration ref is the worst as That’s the highest ref type and can’t be overridden, i’ve tried. It means the car may have been taken to a dirty smog shop that got caught. I know two other people who have the same issue in which one has already spent over $300 trying to get cleared and still nothing even remotely close to getting it cleared. You can PM me if you like but the state ref and BS smog laws are one of a million reasons to get out of this state.

People with California plates irritate me until proven otherwise, but welcome to AZ, keep up the good fight.

Non-op it in CA so if you (or someone you eventually sell it to) ever comes back to CA, there are not $2,000,000,000 in "back registration" fees if they ever try to tag it here in the future.

This state is pure ****ing trash.

I lived in CA for nearly 9 years, most of it in San Diego county. Most people that I associated with were conservative, some independent. Most of the hoes I banged were liberal. One even told me during a conversation that if she were in danger of being raped but she could reach for a gun, she'd rather have been raped. She was so against "gun violence" that she would rather have been raped.... yeah. She was a fun lay though for a bit though haha.

So I totally understand where you are coming from, but as someone who lived in AZ and moved to CA not realizing what AZ had to offer, I absolutely treasure AZ now that Ive been back for 4 years and counting. Many here have seen too many people from CA vote blue, because thats all they have known to do. I would say dont take it personally. In fact, once you are settled as an AZ resident you may be interrogating new CA transplants the same way!

If you are redder than the average Arizonan then sir, welcome to Arizona! Also, its mandatory that you own no less than 3 ARs. Mag release locks and finned grips are illegal in AZ. Standard mag release, pistol grips and 30 round mags are mandatory. Thanks for you compliance. :D :D :D

When I was in AZ the past few weeks I realized just how bad CA drivers are; they seem to all get their licenses from cereal boxes.

I may do this but I really don’t want to come back as this state is quickly becoming a third world country. As I am typing this response I heard people shooting at each other.
So unless this state has some miracle happen I don’t think I’ll be back any time.

Trust me I’ll have more than 3 lol the wife would probably want a minimum of 3 just for her; California is going off the deep end with gun laws. As of 2022 you will no longer be able to build firearms (admittedly I haven’t followed more on this as I’ve been trying to get out for almost a year). The air quality is atrocious and causes health issues, guns are almost double cost and have BS laws (not like I planned to follow them anyway) attached to them; most places won’t ship parts out here for AR’s and shops that do sell parts up charge. But hey if you want to pay 3k plus tax and paperwork fees for a P320 X5 legion boy do I have a state for you lol

The first week we visited me and the wife were both yelling at the Californians driving like idiots, bet that confused them as we still have CA plates. We realized just how bad California has become when we were there; now the red parts of CA are nice but it’s the rest of the state that is either blue or has turned from red to purple that ruin it.
