Ok thanks. Wasn't sure if I'd find them at WM or Target.
I don't have a Sam's club car but want to find an Orange one
I didn't have a Sam's card either. So, I got a membership and picked up a few. Since I paint these it was worth it for me.

You might be better off picking up a slightly marked up one on Ebay and skip the membership.

Here's my attempt at making a 1/18 clone of my car. I have a black convertible and Maisto never made one in black so I was on my own to make one. Started with a red 'vert bought on ebay, cause red is generally the cheapest.

Disassembled and taped off various parts.

I used Duplicolor "Perfect Match" spray paint, 3 coats of each.

Re-assembled, polished and waxed! I don't have the resources and skills to replicate the badges, decals styling bar etc so it'll have to stay as-is. It didn't turn out perfect but I'm happy for a first attempt!

That is awesome @olympic
You're gonna make me try this. I too have a black vert

@Black Gold 380R any tips, tricks, or hints for us guys that are trying to replicate our cars with the style bar? How do you make one, or is there a donor car somewhere? Also, any idea where to find similar wheels, for us that are running aftermarket wheels?

Hello BossMane! I would say follow Olympics guidance/explanation above on disassembly/paint. I use automotive paint that is applied with a spray gun. However, the rattle can automotive paint used by Olympic will work really well for a beginner.

As far as parts. You can use these:

Go to eBay and do a search for a 1/18 Maisto Guldstrand Corvette. This car has the wheels you're looking for. Obviously they will need to be painted, but they match your cars rims (NOTE: Please PM me BEFORE you try exchanging the wheels. If you just try to pop them off there is a very high probability that you will snap the axles. I have a tip/trick that will help you get the wheels off without damaging the axles).

Next do a search on eBay for a 1/18 Maisto Roush 427R. This car has a style bar. It is not exactly like the 03 Cobra style bar, but in 1/18 scale it is close enough. These parts should help you build a very nice replica of your car.

Thanks for the tips Black Gold 380R!

I will start looking around for the car and donor cars I need. It will be a while before I start this project, as I have too many irons in the fire right now, but I'll be reaching out to you when I do get around to trying my hand at this.

Hello Everyone,

I was watching the latest episode of Iron Resurrection (Season 5, Episode 7) and they showed Amanda in the office.

Low and behold they still have the diecast I built for them sitting on the shelf. SWEET!

There's an Avalanche Grey on Ebay with 3 days left. Price is already over $100. Looks more like Metallic or Satin Silver IMO.

Hello tucamsam. I cannot tell for sure. However, the paint job, lowered suspension, snake in the grill and the fender emblems are tell tale signs of my build.

Did it have a custom license plate on it or the SVT plate?

You dont somehow sign them all? Or maybe even # them instead? Chassis #001 etc would probably be cool to see.

I did send a certificate to the owner with their name, diecast VIN, build date and production number.

The certificate had a picture of their car too.

However, it was just for fun and none of that information was attached to the car itself.

It looked something like this.....

Ive been meaning to finish up my painting projects but had not so great luck with 1 and its been on hold since.

Are you guys stripping the original paint off and then priming and painting? I was told without stripping the old paint, itll be too thick and doors wont close right and thinks wont fit back properly. IMO stripping is the hardest part now with these newer paint strippers that take a long time.

Also for those using duplicolor, are you clearing them as well? IF so what brand clear are you using?

Okay Everyone,

I know this is the official Terminator diecast thread, but since I posted pictures of the diecast I built for Iron Resurrections and Bitchin Rides I wanted to post pictures.

I was finally able to get pictures with both Joe Martin and Dave Kindig. It only took me 4 years to catch up to Dave Kindig LMAO!!!

Pretty Cool I think......

Hello 2012GTCS,

Yes, when I build my Maisto Cobras I take it completely apart. I use automotive paint stripper on the metal parts ONLY. The plastic parts must be sanded with 600 grit.

That is correct, if you do not strip the paint off it will build up in the detail areas, such as the door handles and body lines. This will take away from the details and not allow your paint job to look crisp.

The new paint stripper is not fun to work with because it sucks. So, do it the best you can and then use an exacto knife to get paint out of the body lines, door handles and other places it has been left behind.

However, once the paint is stripped off and you start fresh it goes easier and smoother and just looks better overall.

I cannot answer the Dupli-color question as I use true automotive paints on my diecast builds. Good luck.

What's up Patrick? I have a full write up in my build thread, but yes sir. Got a shop tour and picked up some custom made parts too.

It was a great time.
