Anyone install the Griggs SLA (double wishbone) front suspension kit? It indicates simple bolt on installation.

Didn't do it myself, but was friends with a shop that installed one. It took them a couple days I think. But it was also for an article in a magazine. So lots of pictures were taken. The owner of the car said the handling was amazing.

From what I've researched the agent 47 sla kit is cheaper and performs similar if not better than the griggs. I believe racebronco has the agent47 sla on his cobra. There is one more company that produces an sla kit for our cars and that is jme? ( think thats the brand) It looks awesome!, it even has an inboard shock option but I believe their sla is something like 15K

Every time someone posts a thread on this topic it only serves to remind me having a front suspension that works in a Fairmont and visa versa is not very complementary to the IRS or the Cobra in general. This is very temping but man that's a huge "nut" paying for it!

The great thing about the Griggs setup is that you can build it in stages.. You can do their K-member and lower control arm kit with sleeves for the bilsteins and run that for a while, then upgrade to the SLA down the road.. Right now I have their K-member kit with severe duty control arms.. It is amazing and handles awesome. I do plan on upgrading to a SLA kit sometime in 2019 more than likely.. Maybe soon we'll see. But all I need is the tower kit, upper arm, and shocks.. I plan on installing it in my garage as well. It's not hard..

hahaha no. I ditched everything from Griggs and started drag racing.. When my engine finally got completed it made WAAAAYYYY more power than I expected and was useless on the street. so I ditched the Road Racing stuff and 6spd and built a monster drag car

Interesting!

Just because Cortex is better in your opinion or because of something with Griggs?
I've had a few people that got screwed over by Griggs in 2018/19.. Also when I went to sell my Griggs stuff apparently the owner was so money hungry that he tried to tell the customer to not buy anything used only buy new.. When my stuff was damn near brand new..

My buddy who got screwed, went to Cortex and they got him going right.. SO with that I won't recommend Griggs anymore.. Sadly.

So my car came already equipped with full Griggs front and back. Probably as much in the suspension as much as some of these cars are sold for. I have the list of items and complete sales ticket, but I wanted each individual receipt or copies. Bruce told me it would be around $100 just to have copies of those receipts. I couldn't believe with as much money had been spent, he wanted more just for copies of the receipts. Not a very nice guy and very short on the phone....But man...this car handles better than any mustang I've been in and I've been in a lot, LOL.

Bruce has and always will be the problem with that company. I strictly dealt with John back in the day, but John moved on from the company is my understand.. probably due to Bruce.. He's money hungry, and he's reached his ceiling with that company, he needs to step down and allow someone else to run it if he wants it to grow. No one really runs his stuff competitively either..

Bruce has always been a shitty businessman.

With that said before running his setup I'd want to know if he's fixed the cracking issues he's had with his parts.

If you or anyone wants to do some searching there's a member here who has seen 2 of his setups crack in the same places. Both cars were that of family members if I recall correctly.

What's also disturbing is that if you do some digging in OLD threads via Google you can find evidence of this on multiple cars.

If you have a keen eye you can also see these failures on MMs FB page. They don't say who's parts they are showing pictures of but if you know that parts you know who they are. Griggs, UPR, Granatelli are all there and some of it if frightening because the failures are catastrophic.

Since this thread is taking on a new direction, does anyone know the real story behind Cortex? I seem to remember reading years ago that Filip used to work at Griggs? I’m not trying to stir anything up, just curious.

On a side note, I have a Griggs k member and a few sets of a arms that I’m going to install without hesitation into my foxbody whenever it goes back together.

no cracks in mine and it’s been on the car since around 2008 and was tracked.

The cracks were from earlier stuff from Griggs. Like way early. Anything newer doesn’t have that issue. I talked in extensive lengths with John about it. Once technology caught up with what they were trying to do and computer programs were able to test stress points etc all that shit went away.

cortex was formed from ex Griggs employees who saw the ceiling of Griggs as a company and knew they could go further and expand. So they left the company, created cortex and as you know cortex is the main provider for the all the big time race cars is IMSA racing for mustangs etc.

That's good to know. I am obviously going back further than I realized then. I specifically remember posts where people complained about the issues and were told they needed to time out their parts.

That never sat well with me especially when I looked over at MM and they stated their k member was engineered to be a lifetime part.

It's funny you mention cortex being born from former Griggs employees because as I remember it there is a Griggs and MM connection as well.

Does cortex even produce a SLA for the new edge platform? The only SLA they show on their site is for the s197’s.
I knew of a company that was working on building bill Mitchell’s old design but their site no longer works and their FB page tags when you search their name says it’s broken. The company was called peak alpha motorsports.
