What's going on with Ford? My salesman pointed out a couple paint flaws that need to be corrected by my body shop. One has a paint chip and looks like someone tried to dab some in it. It looks horrible! The other looks like something got stuck in the paint

Not a huge deal. But what's up with the body lines!?! I sent some pictures to my salesman and said the body shop will be looking at these as well. I'm NOT paying for it!

He said it's common with the upper tailgate not lining up. And I just noticed the passenger lower door isn't even close to being flush.

Anyone else experience this? Vehicles cost more and quality goes down?

Is it just the angle of the picture or are the rear wheels closer to the front of the wheel well? Doesn’t look right.
I think that's the angle.

Must be a friday truck. If you think that's bad you should've seen the 2015's & 2016's. I had a few issues on my 2016, took it to the dealer and Ford paid fixed it. My 2021 and 2019 are flawless.

I thought the same thing lol. My 18 f150 was pretty much flawless. Ford will be paying for all of these things. Hopefully it can be corrected. Body lines that don't line up drive me nuts. That's all I see when I know it's not right.

Yeah my 18 XLT has its flaws. I have the notorious dash warp from the factory and the glove box alignment is horrible. The whole truck is subpar from the interior standpoint. The body seems to be in good standing order luckily. These Trucks are ALL too expensive to be in this kinda shape. If you spend 10 minutes in a Dodge or Chevy you notice how they are 100% better on the interior. I'm going through some vehicle changes soon so hope I have better luck on a newer higher model.

I remember when I purchased my 2011 GT500 new from the dealer. I was so excited that I did not see a paint error similar to yours. That being sand or something getting stuck under the paint in a small spot and they just painted over the top. I never fixed because I was fearful of how the sterling grey metallic door would match.

I think the best thing to do is bring a buddy with you that has a critical eye and is not so emotionally wrapped up in the purchase. They would spot the issues before it leaves the dealership. That tailgate is poor.

Good news it cash and will be fixed on Ford’s dime.

I spotted a lot of fitment and alignment issues on my ST when it was new and the dealer wanted $120 to "diag" each issue when I brought it back. I left the service department before I showed my ass to the advisor and didn't even want to deal with sales at that point so I just let it be, convincing myself it's still just a hopped up economy car I can't expect perfection. It was a shame when I started seeing how much better the fit and finish was on my wife's civic though.

Was it still under warranty?

That's crazy. Why would they try to charge you a diag for a factory issue?

The bottom of all 4 doors on my 2015 were flared out from the body. I had a paint run down the top edge of the back door. I also passed on many many used 2015+ models because I initially believed most were wrecked at some point due to the front bumper gap to the fender being off on nearly everyone I looked at. I then realized the new ones were the same way.

Yes, it had roughly 500 miles on it.

To be fair I think it was a new advisor, and I should have questioned it and/or spoke with the service or sales manager. But I was so livid that he quoted me diag and told me it would take 3-4 days to look at that I told him never mind and stormed out before I thought to do that. They were pretty minor issues that I just had the guys at my dealer (non-ford) take care of for me.

I have a paint issue on my 13 GT500 as well, and a real shitty glive box on our 15 F150.

I won’t even go into the sagging quarters on the car or the passenger window seal on the truck.

Sorry you guys pay so much for a truck these days .
