IAT 30* above ambient with K&N CAI

Picked up a lightly modded 13 GT with a manual. Best that I can tell, K&N CAI, a couple of BMR suspension components, no muffler exhaust, high-flow cats and a Bama tune.

While datalogging with HPTuners, I noticed IAT were 30* above Ambient and this seemed high for going down the road 45 MPH+.

It does have a GT500 hood with a functional scoop, not sure if that's contributing or not.

I know on my '15, going down the highway, it wasn't uncommon to be a few degrees above ambient.

Anything I should look for? CAI you'd recommend I replace it with? I thought about an enclosed CAI from Corsa or one of the others, but the reviews seemed mixed. JLT seems to be the most popular, but not sure if that's because of price or something else.

Also, is anyone aware of some place that sells color matched CAI?

Thanks!

Happen to have the factory box setup? Id data log that. When i had my 13 5.0 stock box with drop in filter worked best on a tune only car. The Cai did not gain anything at the track on my car.

With full bolt ons there would be some gain from a Cai. Even then id go airraid

It takes a few miles at cruising speeds for your IATs to drop. You have an open filter under a hot hood, its going to suck in all the heat. If you are concerned with IATs I would look for a stock set up or an aftermarket one with a sealed lid. Have you tested it on the highway. On the highway you should very close to ambient temps regardless of what intake you have.

FWIW, this was driving around everywhere between 35MPH and 65MPH. Temps never dropped, even at 55-65 MPH. I'm on the hunt for a stock box, may have found one. Will report back what I find. Thanks all!
