Just had the car inspected and the Nitto 555R 305/35/20's on the rear are getting low. While they've been on there 5 years, that's probably only 4000 miles. Is that typical life expectancy for no inclement weather, no burnouts, etc? If so, what would be another good option to match the Nitto NT555 G2's in the front? Appreciate the input!

PS What's up with the pricing/market for the 13/14's these days? I get the whole car market dynamic, but I'm seeing low mile examples asking (selling?) for mid 50s/lower 60s? Wow...

Nice Shelby! I dont own nitto's but being a drag radial I wouldnt expect to get very many miles out of them. The shelby gt500 13's and 14's will continue to rise in price!! I guarantee it. If you own a supersnake or shelby 1000 big $$$ in the near future!

Just put the 555R2 on. They are fine in the rain as long as ur not being stupid otherwise they grip 10x better than the R's and still work in rain. Probably not last as long but doesn't seem like an issue for u as urs is low mileage.

5 years they definitely need to be replaced no matter how few miles. Shit, I replace my DR tires for my Mustang every year! Ur in PA so u get cold weather to. I would never go more than 2 years on a DR no matter how many miles on the car no way. Maybe if I lived in Florida but not here in the North Pole in NE smh.

Good morning and thanks for the reply. Did you mean keep the 555R's or change to the G2? Car doesn't see rain/inclement weather - I've literally never used the windshield wipers. I realize DR's life expectancy is much more limited, just wasn't sure if it was ~4k miles with only street miles? Yep, I realize pay to play as well...

PS GNBrett from TurboBuick.com?

That’s about what I get from my MT SS.

Probably closer to 3k in 3yrs

Going with something other than MT. Out of round crap now.

Change to the new 555RII, much better and improved over the older 555R in my opinion.

555 R2 not R's. It replaced the R's and kinda does everything although the Toya 888 will handle better in the corners after u heat em up of course. Ha yes GNBRETT from TB.com:) I miss my TR.

Great, thanks for the input fellas, I'll look them up. Hopefully get a few more miles out of these than the 555R's.

Thought I'd recalled the screen name...still got my 2nd owner (4/95) 87 GN 58k miles, with a mild Stage II motor, etc.

I had MT DR's on for 4 yrs because I wasn't putting many miles on this weekend driver. The tread was still on the border line ....but...once off the car on the inner sidewalls the tread was separating from the core of the tire. I now swap out my MT SS tires after two season no matter what. For $1000 every 3rd year I have great traction and no more guessing on safety.

what size did you go with and do you have any pictures on the rear? ( i know this is old but figured ide try)
I ended up going with 305/35. Without widening the rims, I’d probably go with 295’s. Not to much of bulge, but it’s there

do you have any other pics such as from the ground? also what do they measure from one end of the tire to the other? I dont think nitto makes a 295 for our car? Thank you so much for responding!

i kinda feel that it sticks out just enough, not to much at all! do you feel the ass end move somewhat while going around corners from being sloppy?

dude ty so much for taking time out of your day so you can share this! I ended up buying the same times, was up in the air about them or the toyos. I had the old nittos back in like 2005 and wasnt a big fan of them at all and used to buy the BFG DRs ( they no longer make them, im getting old lol) so tons of ppl are raving about these and figured i would give them a shot.
