Social media had an article with an included video showing an individual lapping his 350 to the point (and beyond) when it went into limp mode. Sometime prior to the power loss he passed an Integra and "waved" to the other driver. A brief while later he had to pull over and allow the same car to pass him. To be a fly in that car....

That's why I don't show boat...lol

Yep, just asking for trouble.

I remember last year, a guy showed up to Heartland Park with us to run with NASA. In the TT driver's meeting he goes, "man, the weather is awful nice out today. I bet there will be some records set today!"

I kinda just chuckled at him and then proceeded to listen to him talk about how he was going to set it.

His fastest lap of the day put him in 8th and about 7 seconds from the record. Next day, first session, he blew a rod through the block.

Which I have seen 0 evidence of.

Ive not personally seen it, however I do know of one person whom claimed it.

My former boss, who is a die hard Ford man, purchased one and took the wife on a month+ long US tour. He said he was out West and winding it out hard, and running for extended periods at high rpm/lower gear in some very hot weather and his went into limp mode.

He loved the sound but it bit him he claimed and I have no reason to doubt him, other than Ben on here he very likely is worth more than anyone.

Anyhow, he traded it in on a new GT500 and never looked back. Has a ‘21 F350 SRW that is beautiful and a completely unmolested 20k mile ‘03 Redfire among other vehicles.

They should have made only 2 versions from the start:

GT350 - 80% Street , 20% track

GT350R - 10% Street, 90% track.

Instead they made some... odd profit driven choices that compromised the ownership experience and possibly violated the implied use expectations of such a high performance vehicle.

I have a 16 tech pack. I'm OK with that compromise because I preferred the more comfortable version for daily driving and will take it on road trips. However, I would love to take it to the track once or twice per year, but Ford's most capable track car can't do HPDE's? It's rediculous.

All Ford's decisions are profit driven and not customer driven, and this is the result; Ford shitty cars that had potential but do not completely satisfy.

It’s irritating you can’t go in and sit down and build one exactly how you want. Hell, the all use the same harness now essentially it seems minus a module here or there. To get what you want you have to add this package with all the shit extra fluff added in which drives the price up.

Love to see a system like the COPO from back in the day through a fleet manager.

If you track it twice a year, you won't push it hard enough for limp mode lol

Bingo that coffee was 190 degrees and resulted in 3rd degree burns. The woman in that case was elderly, like late 70s...McDonald's deserved to take it up the ass on that one.

And she originally only asked for them to cover her hospital bills that her insurance didn’t cover. The original payoff got overturned and I don’t know how much she eventually got. She died a few years after the burn so she may have never saw any of it. Also MC dons had burned several people with their coffee and thought it was better to please people who want super hot coffee than to make it cooler.

yup McDonald’s could have squashed it by helping with medical… I read somewhere there were 700 injured prior to her injuries. A judge did over turn a substantial part of the original settlement, but apparently she and McDonald’s came to a settlement for an undisclosed amount.

I know what you meant. Why so presumptuous? Those of us that don't go too often want to get the most smiles out of the short time we get at the track.
I mean that if you only track it twice a year, you probably won't run it hard enough to matter.

I have a 2016 Tech Pack car. I upgraded to the Track Pack transmission and coolers. Prior to that upgrade, my car went into limp modern the freeway due to transmission temperatures. Everyone focuses on the track overheating issue which occurred on my car also after about 20 minutes of track time. What most people miss is that these cars overheated on the street too. Look at the fluid volume for a Tech Pack car. It is no wonder why these overheated in heavy traffic or pulling a grade. Ford did not want Tech owners to even know about trans temps since they deleted the temp reading from the display. Unlike the diff, the sensors are present to read trans temps but the option is not present without modifying the BCM with Forscan.
