Glad to hear that your back and had a good time with the family. Progress is coming along nicely. I do feel that you'll probably want a little more gap between the intake inlet and the radiator tubing to allow more flex when you get on the vertical petal.

I would imagine there's a good reflection anywhere you look in that engine compartment.

I know it's not ideal, but you could run some kind of filter on the street and remove them for the show.

And since we're all spending your money here, have you considered getting another set of valve covers like what you have and having your fab guy convert them to an air filter set up?

Hello Bob, Thank you brother! Yeah, there is a pretty good reflection at all angles in that engine compartment LOL.

No sir, I have not thought about having another set of valve covers turned into an air filter set up, but I like that idea and think it's a good back-up plan.

Another reason why I love this site and all the feedback :D.

Hello Grabber! Thank you sir. It's good to be home. Vacation is cool and all, but it's nice to be home and working on my project LOL.

I understand your point on the radiator tube. However, please know most of the things I post in it's initial phases are in mock up phase. So, the pictures of the tubing are just for reference at this point. I will let my fabricator decided how best to route things or see if he has a better idea. As you guys know, I love feedback because I don't think of everything LOL.

HOLY S#!T!!!!

You guys are not going to believe this. The Kindig Rep got back to me. SWEET!

This is what he said:

Ok, so I did some asking and there is a possibility of having this made for you.

To start off, this unit is pretty tall and there will need to be some modifications made.

It is 5.015" tall above the throttle body. I have included a pic with a really rough measurement mainly to show where to measure from.

Basically hood clearance may be an issue. The filter itself is 3" tall.

I will get back with you when we figure out the cost / time to do it / etc.

Thanks for being patient I will get back with you.

FYI; I am not trying to talk you out of anything just want you to be aware of the size in case its too big for your needs.

This is a photo I sent him and he sent it back letting me know where to measure from and how tall it would be.

Once I heard back from the Kindig Rep, you know I had to go in the garage immediately LMAO. So, I put a paint stick in my throttle body and cut it at the 5 inch mark.

Here is the view from the side. When I seen this I was seriously doubting it would fit. I think when the Kindig Rep said it was 5 inches on a 65 Mustang I think he was thinking it wouldn't fit as well LOL.

I had my wife help me put the hood on the car. It's fiberglass and not that heavy. The gap you see is where the fender raises up to meet the hood. So, the gap is supposed to be there.

I had to pull the radiator back out to get a good look. Holy Crap! It clears, with room to spare LOL.
20210712_120709_resized.jpg

Here is a close up. You can see I still have about 1.5 inches of clearance above where the top of the air filter cover would be.

I sent these pictures of my measuring process back to the Kindig Rep and this is his response:

Well look at that! Guess it's a good thing you had that hood. I didn't think it would fit under a stock hood and was trying to picture how to make it look good through the hood on a stock style hood.

Well I will keep going on the project and keep you posted as I get the information.

I said it before and I'll say it again:

THINGS JUST KEEP FALLING INTO PLACE FOR ME ON THIS BUILD :D....

Okay everyone,

I may be getting WAY ahead of myself here. However, I talked to my wife last night and told her that "IF" Kindig builds this air filter system for me I want to go pick it up in person.

My wife was like, "I've never been to Utah. Let's go!" LMAO!!!!

I will coordinate with the Kindig rep to ensure Dave will be available and go up there for a meet and greet. This way I can see the shop, meet Dave and other Kindig personnel and pick up my part. I don't want to go if Dave and Kevin are out of the shop on vacation or at another event in the country. If they are gone, I'll just have them ship it to me.

So, we will see what happens. But, I think it would be cool if I can make this happen.

Okay everyone,

I took a picture with the cup holders lit up Red. Again, these are not going to be on all the time, but I'm trying to see which color flows best with my set up. I would prefer white, but it's just to bright. Well, I think the white is too bright while I'm driving.

Oh, On another note I talked to my fabricator last night. He said for me to bring the car in this Saturday. He will be working on installing my exhaust, radiator tubes/hoses and fabricating a radiator cover for me. Once these projects are completed I will need to run all my fluids (to include fuel) install my distributor, wires and spark plugs and then it "should" be time to try and fire it up.

Man, it feels like it is getting so close LOL.

Okay everyone,

Got the car in position for the trip to the fabrication shop on Saturday. Sure is nice having this thing on the ground. It does appear the front is higher that the rear. I'll adjust the coil overs once the fenders are back on and I can see it better. With the fenders off right now it might not be as high as it looks. Could be an optical illusion LOL.

As it sat.

On the casters so I can position it.
20210714_140758_resized.jpg

Almost in position. Man, even with the casters it is not easy spinning this car by myself LOL.
20210714_141747_resized.jpg

It looks so good on the ground and painted.:D
20210714_143236_resized.jpg

I wish it was ready to fire up already LOL.
20210714_143254_resized.jpg

I wiped it down. The paint still looks amazing. Glad I put the welding protectant paper on it.

As mentioned above, I didn't post side view pictures of the car on the ground. Oops....

Check it out. I think it actually looks pretty level. I stood next to it and the top of the door is below my waist. DAMN, this thing is low LOL. I LOVE IT!!!!

Here it looks like the front may be a tad high.
20210714_152825_resized.jpg

This angle it looks level. SWEET!!!
20210714_152953_resized.jpg

Again, it looks level here. Man, I'm stoked!!!!
20210714_153027_resized.jpg

I love the rear wheel fitment in the QTR panel. Just need to make sure the front fits/looks like this.:D

Looks outstanding, liking the stance but will wait until the fenders are on for the final thoughts on levelness. I think your right in doing it that way, it's hard to tell until it's all together.

Thank you Grabber! Yeah, I have learned you cannot assume anything on a build. I assumed I wouldn't have the 5 inches needed for the air filter system, but I proved myself wrong on that deal LMAO!!!!

I'll be honest when you first posted the pictures I had forgotten about the style of hood you were running and said to myself no way Jose. Then when I scrolled down and saw the rest of the pics I said Awe Yeah that's going to look sweeeet.

That is one eye-catching Mustang. It’s really coming together nicely. I fully expect the eye appeal to be outstanding when it’s complete.
