They are still bad ass trucks and the 7.3 IMO is the best gas offering right now of the big 3.

Just keep your expectations realistic and also keep in the mind the idea that gas prices are going to continue to rise in the short term..
For sure. Ill say this though, a $250 fuel bill every month just for my Excursion has me prepared lol.

Just wanted to add, as atrocious as my V10 is on fuel the Excursion has more than proven its value. Its more than cemented to me that for my family and my hobby, I need a heavy duty truck.

Sure, some may see the idea behind nitpicking 3.73s vs 4.30s in a 1 ton gas truck as pointless, but its worth a topic of discussion I think. Im sure Im not the only one with these questions.

This is definitely going to be a custom factory order. Hopefully by then, this stupidity with chips is over.

Sorry boss, I hold a CDL. I cant play loose like that. Even for personal vehicles that are NOT commercial, Im held to a stricter standard. In the eyes of Arizona and the Feds, Im a professional driver. If I cause an accident (legit or not) and Im found out of compliance due to something like overloading, I could get my license to drive anything suspended or revoked.

That happens, I could lose my job due to not having a valid CDL.

@me32 Probably going to be a 2023 model for us, hoping its a carryover or last year before the next SD generation.

Looks like the Google overlords were reading my google searches and my post here. Found this on the tube

Dude is in AZ, driving the same conditions I drive. Around 18 mpg highway indicated give or take in an unloaded Tremor at 75. 35's, CC SB 4x4 and 4.30 gears. That is totally within my acceptable parameters. Hell combined city and highway of 15-16 would make me VERY happy.

My Excursion gets 8mpg on a good day... Im in for 4.30s and some 35's on a Super Duty.

Yea, I have a CDL, too.

They don't check an owners manual. And they won't pull diff covers to count teeth, either. They care about axle weights, tire load ratings, and what ever else is in the door jam. The 5th wheel tow rating isn't there, unless something has changed recently. I'm willing to bet the axle ratings are the same between the two, and they're even close to the same for DRW vs SRW, with the difference coming between additional tires and springs.

But any who, don't fear the gear.

My 22 on order with @13COBRA is a 3.55 F250 w/ Godzilla. I tow a lot, but not super heavy. I too thought 4.30 was going to be my order. However Nick set me straight and said the 3.55 has plenty of oomph. Also, if you look at the gearing chart a 3.55 w/ 10r140 has a better 1st gear than a 6 speed with 4.30 does. If the 250 came w/ a 3.73 I’d have gone that route but the 3.55 should prove more than worthy for most applications.

It can get mind numbing reading some of the super duty forums on the internet… hoping the sections here take off haha
