I bought the car with 17,200 miles. Car is all stock except k/n air filter element. I put almost 700 miles on her and every monitor set except the catalyst.. scratching my head here and just about out of time here with my temporary registration from out of state and i am in CA. I finally said F it and pulled the battery because one of the smog techs said it is rare but the Catalyst monitor could stick? Starting over but I really hope someone has an idea of something to try because I have done so many drive cycles and satisfied all of the scenarios it asks for.

TIA

Is it on the stock tune? I had an issue with rear O2s, and it was off on the tune. Took a lot of back and forth, 200+ miles of driving, before I convinced the tuner (super well known on here) it was THEIR mistake

Yeah the dealer confirmed it is the stock tune. I'm so fed up I've put 1000 miles on it already

Tell me about it. This whole thing has been a nightmare. But probably the most frustrating thing is having a completely stock car that won't pass smog lol
I hear yeah, maybe disconnect battey and start over, maybe that will help everything pass.

COLD STARTS are more important than miles driven to reset monitors..

IIRC some of the I/M tests only run at pretty low rpm, so try short shifting when you do the drive cycle(under 2,500 rpm). Car should set all monitors in 2-3 drives, if all is ok in the tune and mechanically.

It feels like the majority of businesses these days in CA are out to find a way to get your money any way that they can. My car came with a 3 month 4,000 mile Blue Oval warranty, but from my experience with this dealership they will try to charge you for "Diagnostics" or anything really that they think they can get away with. Maybe I should try to charge them for breathing the air in my vehicle? I will definitely look into the 8yr/80k emissions warranty so thank you for bringing that up.

For now, I got an operating permit to buy me some time. If I have to I'm going to go to another dealership to get the newest update but as far as I know this thing is exactly as it came off the lot in '13. Even the battery is from 2013.. (Yes I tested it don't worry lol). And I will absolutely keep this thread updated when I find a solution because I don't want anyone to have to go through this bullshit that I am currently experiencing. Thanks for the replies!

You are a gentleman and a scholar. I did 5th gear for the 40mph portion and 6th gear for the 60mph portion and all monitors set within a couple minutes. God bless you sir!! I must confess, I had never even put the car into 6th gear until you gave me the idea to in the thread you sent..

Kinda funny too because with the stock gearing the car can barely maintain 60 in 6th anyways :p

Glad I could help. It drive me crazy too. I was driving hundreds of miles a week. It became a chore and I started wanting to sell the car. Thankfully I found that thread and once I did the run in 5th gear, it set. I was so happy, yet pissed.
