If you asked me 2 years ago if I'd ever buy an electric car, I would have laughed and probably mock you. But, you just can't understand until you drive one. I drove one about 16 months ago, and knew I'd have to have one .

sold my 2018 Fiesta ST with 68k on it for $15k and picked up this model 3. Dual motor, AWD.

Had to drive 4.5 hours down to NJ to pick it up.

Anyway, thought some of you guys may enjoy my perception of these cars, coming from the terminator world.

Hope you guys enjoy!

First, thank God you aren't getting rid of your awesome Cobra. LOL. I'm not a fan of electric vehicles, but I'm happy that you're enjoying your new Tesla. I do dread the day when ICEs are history.

Question. How quiet is the interior as far as rattles, etc.? My brother has a Tesla and while he loves electric cars, he recently told me he'd never buy another Tesla due to the interior "noises" that developed over time. He was a huge fan of the car the first year of ownership, but can't wait to turn it in this year. It surprised me when he said he's just not happy with quality overall. He's a big fan, though, of EVs.

I read that Tesla is adding the camera-based FSD suite later this year that will add Autosteer on city streets. One nice thing about the Tesla is that these updates can be easily added through a software update. Pretty cool.

Great choice. Loving my p100d as a daily! I actually prefer your interior over my p100d. love the single screen and long heat/ac vent built into the dash.

Crazy how subjective it can be. I was pretty much on board with a model 3, on paper it was everything I needed and with the resale, a very "cheap" car. I had been in a model S a few times (never drove) and was blown away. We went and test drove a dual motor 3, the sales guy asked me to keep the drive under 15 miles, we maybe made it 2.5 miles or so before I turned around and was done.

Haven't really cared for any electric cars since.

I like them, especially for a D.D. commute car. Inlaws had a 3 and now the Y. Would prefer the X or Y from Tesla.

Always will have a v8 getting low teens mpg but open to electric cars.

Well, here's some delightful Tesla news. A customer who had recently bought a Model S Plaid saw smoke from the rear (battery pack) and quickly attempted to get out of the car. The electronic doors failed to function so he had to use force to get them open. He got out just before the car burst into flames, engulfing and destroying the car. It took the fire department 3 hours to extinguish the flames, apparently because the battery pack had to be sufficiently cooled down. Now the NHTSA is investigating, stating "If data or investigations show a defect or an inherent risk to safety exists, NHTSA will take action as appropriate to protect the public,", according to Reuters.

I surely hope this is a one time fluke, although that’s doubtful. If Tesla is smart, they’ll take the initiative to immediately investigate the battery issue and resolve it ASAP.

One time fluke? It’s been happening to these things since day one. A Dr and his friend just died in one of these things two miles from me. Nothing will happen because China currently controls the epa, congress and the Whitehouse. Keep buying there lithium and be a good citizen.

I meant one-time fluke with the Platinum. They have had ongoing battery fire issues, I know, AND they've had time to investigate/research/fix them.

Makes me think that bullet proof glass and sledge hammer proof doors are a bad idea for the Tesla truck. I’d be rolling around with the windows down ALL the time if I had a 100% EV.

You’re dead to me. How could you sell one of the greatest handling hatchbacks for an appliance?!

Was time to go.

I'm loving the Model 3 and would do it 100x over again.

I've gone Focus ST, Focus RS, Fiesta ST in that order. And yet, the Model 3 is light years ahead as a fun daily

The Model 3 I drove was nice and I could see myself daily driving one, maybe one day.

How would you rate the RS vs the other hatches you've owned?

Guy at work has one in that same blue and I have to say I really love the color. I've pondered the idea of getting one, after my move next week my commute will be 84 miles round trip and we have a charging station here at work I could use while I work. My ST will be traded for a truck but maybe in a couple years I'll get one for a commuter car.

I've had all 3 (well the Fiesta is my wifes car but I probably have 15k miles behind the wheel and a few track days).

The RS is a more fun street car than the Fiesta, but not by much.

If cost is a consideration, the Fiesta is the winner.

If cost isn't an issue, but you deal with rough roads and plan to DD it, I would probably reach for the Fiesta but it's a toss up. The RS is firm.

If the roads are good, and you have the extra money, I would go RS.

Weirdly on track, it's a similar story. The Fiesta needs help in the form of a stickier tire and brake pads (which don't last due to lack of cooling), the RS is set up better from the factory and seems to deal with the abuse better. But I would say it's track dependent on which one is more fun.

The Focus ST is solid 3rd between the other 2.
