The Gen IIs especially. The guys and gals that had the Blue and White GTS posters on their walls as kids have disposable income now, and will gladly pay up for their childhood dream.

Sent from my Potato

Cries in White/Blue RT/10 poster on wall

Ironically also had a 911 Turbo poster. But at the same time we haven't seen muscle car and JDM cars spike quite as much as anticipated due to nostalgia. That probably signals a shift away from automotive culture in general but that's another discussion. I think they've definitely hit the bottom of their depreciation curve but I think it will wane a little as things normalize. It's definitely a collectors game though, with the haves seeking to up their stake.

Maybe with all the speculation I should dive in headfirst. Introducing Vipercoin. 1 coin = 0.0000001 Viper. Buy in now! To the moon!

Which is crazy in itself, with Porsches in general, but especially the GTs, being wild in price even before the pandemic.

I hate to be put in that position. I refused to spend the extra money on a GTS or a blue one because of the inflated premium before I didn't think was worth it, and now all of them are over inflated. I'd hate to buy in a bubble and shell out such absurd premiums just because fed money printer go BRRRRRRR.

yes the Porsche GT cars have been priced high for some time. They seem to fair well for holding value so I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one but the two seater set up is what’s stopped me.

as far as the viper I’m inclined to believe these prices are somewhat here to stay but I too have a hard time paying them for a viper. I’ll be curious to see what happens with cars when we ultimately see the housing market slump again. Maybe then I’ll buy a novelty item.

"for a Viper"?

You mean the rarest of the late model high horsepower, manual transmission, track monsters? ;)

Porsche values in general have been way up as of late. Between the air cooled ones skyrocketing a few years ago and now the newer ones picking up, it's another bitter pill to swallow.

There's a lot up in the air. Lumber/materials are starting to come back to earth. Housing is slowing but it's going to take awhile to relieve the pent up demand and slow supply. The bigger factor is going to be the auto market, and that one is going to drag on for years due to the chip shortage. I think the most realistic scenario is we see a dip in these cars value along with used cars overall, but they're going to continue their climb afterward. That is of course barring any government intervention, which would only send prices skyrocketing again.

If it gets too damn crazy I'm just gonna build a Daytona coupe and stuff a V10 in it if I have to.

In fairness I say the same thing to myself when I think this LOL. There is a reason I’ve not purchased any other car yet. At some point a viper will find a way into my garage for the reasons you listed.

You won't regret it. I regret not buying a White TA 3 years ago. I had one all but bought with 3500 miles for $82k, but had limited myself to $75k. Now it would be worth $120k haha

don’t get me started on construction cost inflation. At this point we’re up to 105k increase across the board for our build. I actually am cutting stuff out of the build like a detached garage as that can be built later once prices subside a bit.

the only upside is our current house has taken a nice increase in value so hopefully the market holds and we breakeven but so much for any profit we planned on.

you’re right though everything is crazy inflated. I also keep an eye on watch pricing and they are up a good bit. As far as used cars I feel for the people paying the mark up on them as that will put them upside down at some point.

You had that ACR though and they are picking up value as well. Yes though the T/As have taken a huge spike.

Just curious: If one gets the 9L kit does it effect emissions testing? Will the car still pass in states that require it?

Blue/White 96' with 10k sold for $106k on BAT 2 months ago lol. I'm sure if you sold you'd make a healthy profit. All the other color 97-02's don't seem to be bringing in anything crazy. They are just listed for crazy prices from the hoarders.

Without fully divulging, I paid less than half that for this one. Unless someone throws out some crazy unsolicited number, I don't plan on selling it anytime soon. Everything has it's price though.

I'll give you $18.

...but in all seriousness if you got a blue/white GTS for under $60k that's a damn steal. Shoot me a PM on how you found it, or any shopping recommendations.
