It’s terrifying to think that so many of us have brought children into this world and where we’re headed potentially.

CDC is talking about masks again, the Delta variant.
......I expect the pin-head the runs my state, ( N.J. ) to jump right on this.
I suspect if there isn't some COVID19 something in the news, the Biden administration will have to deal with the southern border..

Are you guys still locked down over there??? My life never changed aside from stupid masks in stores. I haven't been wearing masks in stores for a while and nobody has said anything.. Yesterday in Kelowna mall tons of people not wearing masks. Seems to be only the college age demographic and Karens that still wear them

Don, I saw a Fox News article on the masks with Delta this morning, but was the WHO, not CDC. And it right now pertains more to (Great Britain), Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Portugal and Israel. Those countriees have all been forced to return to some form of lockdown because of the Delta variant, which originated in India. The good news is that Biden doesn't expect a return to masks here in the U.S. due to the number of people already vaccinated.

Don't forget, Biden told us of a dark winter with regards to COVID.

I'm guessing he was referring to his false election and looming economic upheaval.

Israel is probably the most vaccinated country against covid. They were bragging that 80% of adults (60% of their entire population) were vaccinated around the beginning of June, and were near herd immunity. That's not even counting those that should have natural immunity after recovering from the disease. In the article below you can see the author using it to bash Americans, especially those of us that do not plan on ever getting vaccinated, or at least until the vaccines and their side effects can be studied more.
I think we have a new "family" of coronavirus (which includes the common cold) to add to cold/flu season that like the others will have its own new variants every year.
Israel offers a glimpse of life after herd immunity: With 80% of adults vaccinated, cases have dropped to 15 per day

If they are locking down again it just proves the lock downs are a result of an overreaching government, not the virus.

I'm 37 and we only have a 2 year old son. People either think I'm nuts or that I'm joking when I say overpopulation is a massive problem and that I don't like the direction the world is going on nearly every topic imaginable so I'm good with 1 child.

I know I can provide adequately for my son so that he can live a fairly comfortable life. We probably could provide for another child but I don't want to risk it.

This was a major factor in our consideration of having a second child. Overpopulation and the direction of the world.

Our daughter is 12 now. I'm gonna be 48 (Holy **** time flies!!) this year. In hindsight, I wish we would've had a second child. I'm not gonna live forever and I worry about my daughter "fending" for herself. Poor word choice, but the reality is she potentially won't have family when my wife and I croak.

As our parents grow older and their needs change, I can't imagine that burden being put solely on one child. Also when my wife's Mom passed away, almost 5 years ago now, I couldn't image facing that alone, without a sibling to offer comfort.

I totally agree with what you've said, but there are nights I stay awake worrying about the reality of my daughter having to endure the death of her parents, potentially, alone. Shitty reality, indeed.

If I could travel back 10 years in time, I'd kick myself in the nuts, and say 'have a second kid'.

Technically they weren't forced to return to some form of lockdown because of the Delta variant. They were forced because they elected fools that still can't fathom the original lockdowns did squat.

Do you not expect that your daughter will get married and have a family of her own?

Damn you for making rational points that make me reconsider my decision! Of course I don't know anything about your daughter's personality but if she's an introvert and doesn't end up in a long term, committed relationship she will definitely struggle when you and your wife reach the end of your lives. My son is only 2 but he's outgoing and I'm sure he'll probably do just fine with the ladies when he gets older. I anticipate living another 50 years +/- a few years so he will be well established in his life by then and might even have his own adult child/children.

I do have 6 nieces/nephews and my son and my sister's son are close in age and will probably be best friends later on in their childhood. I know cousins aren't the same as siblings but they can be close if the kids spend a lot of time together.

Siblings aren't always a guaranteed good thing though. I know plenty of people who essentially hate their siblings. My father-in-law has 2 brothers and a sister and hasn't talked to any of them in 15+ years except when their mother died and his sister called to tell him that. He didn't even go to her funeral.

Also, I am the oldest of 3. Until I got to my late teenage years I didn't even want my sister and probably close to 25 before I wanted my brother. My sister was the princess and my brother the baby so they got it easier from my parents than I did.

$1200/month daycare is the other kick in the pants. I will not pay that for another child. It is a 99% of the way to a dealbreaker on it's own. My career is going well enough that we could easily get by on just my income for a few years so I guess it's possible that my wife could stay home.

We anticipate moving next year so that is another thing that would have to happen before a 2nd came. I guess we'll see what happens.

This worries me. Good, hard working, intelligent, ethical people need to have more kids and raise them right. Otherwise all that will roam the Earth will be brainless shit stains.

And be sure you don't spoil them. Let them fail. Let them sacrifice. Let them want stuff and feel poor. Let them pay their own college. Never let them watch any Disney brainwashing. Encourage them to be independent and want to excel on their own. Your are raising future independent, strong adults, not children.
