This doesn't look like an accident. There had to have been very poor engineering done prior and during construction, or possibly a sinkhole...Buildings don't just fall down like that. Even with some severe structural damage there would need to be many points of failure all at once leading up to it that would have had to gone unnoticed.

I agree, Jeff. No unexplained accident. An investigation will likely reveal structural defects that led to the collapse. Wow!!!

Looking at the larger picture now.... There was not a lot of support under the front overhang. So, in hindsight I can see a single large failure cascade into what we see happen. And the fact that the building was over 40 years old makes me wonder what the history of damages to the structure are during that time. Storms; automobile collisions with the support pillars; adjacent construction and demolition,... etc.

Fox reported a few minutes ago that a new, large building is being built nearby. As a result, pilings have been driven in to support the new building over the past several days as they normally are. Maybe that vibration disrupted the integrity of the subsoil structure.

Prayers sent to those suffering and who lost there life.

This is really terrible. I stay at a timeshare not too far away from there often.

I thought I heard reports of structural issues there for a while now

Woah now with that broad statement. I’ve been on drilling rigs for the last 40 years. In multiple states. Drilling activity knocking down structures was/is unheard of.
