I was walking with my wife 2 nights ago and the sky was clear. There was a bright star a little above the horizon. I came back with my iPhone and loaded up SkyView. I'll be damned it was Jupiter!

Got any pics of the flag on the moon?

That is really cool to see though. I'm a pretty big astro nerd.

Cool tip! Thanks. I'll see if I can see that next time.

Here is a photo I took of Jupiter 2 nights ago with my iPhone 12 Max Pro. It made another appearance. I also zoomed in on the moon thinking I would get a nice image but all that appeared was a white blob. The iPhone camera just can't compete with the Nikon 1000 or others. It would be awesome though if one day you could zoom in with a mobile phone to see Jupiter's moons!

Yes I've been tempted to get one myself. Unfortunately there are many large trees around our house so the view is limited.

I have an iPhone 12 Max Pro, too. Absolutely NO comparison, zoom wise, to the Nikon P1000. Check out this link to see just how powerful the 3000mm zoom is on the P1000. Scroll down a bit just below the video. Start with the slider all the way to the left. You can barely even see the lion. Now slide it right to '3000'. Freaking amazing.

That's amazing! The camera body is also not too expensive. There are telephoto lenses available for the iPhone and others. Years ago I had a lens kit for my iPhone 6s Plus. The macro lens was amazing! You could rotate and select between various lenses (macro, micro, fisheye etc.) because the lenses were anchored to the phone case. The lenses slide over the camera lens of the phone.

Here are some macro photos I took with my iPhone 6s Plus. The first photo is our Beagle Ben's left eye! I tried to photograph it but he started closing his eye lol! He passed away in 2016.

Those are great macro photos! I have a few good macros taken on vacations. Macros always look awesome to me.
