Greenland (2021) Comet Disaster Movie

SPOILER ALERT:

The ending was sad to me. As they run into the bunker you see the comet strike Europe and all it's history is completely wiped out. Even mountain ranges would be wiped out.

Here is a comparison of the impact with a Google Earth view of Greenland and Europe above it. I am guessing the impact crater of this movie comet would be over 1000 km / 621 miles in diameter. Compare that with the 150 km / 93 miles Chicxulub crater that wiped out the dinosaurs!

I don't think the underground bunker in Greenland would have saved them. There would be massive earthquakes. I doubt humanity or any animal of significant size would survive such an impact. In the aftermath they show the remains of the Eiffel Tower. There would be nothing left in Europe but a huge crater and molten rock. Everything man made would have vaporized.

France and Spain are literally peeled off and flying into space!

Its a movie!!!! Don't think so much!!!

The movie was forgettable. The trailer was a lot better than the movie. Not enough action scenes.

Good thing i didn't pay the new movie price $19.95

I just finished it and enjoyed it. I wanted to strangle the wife at least 6 times. She definitely reminded me why I’m not married and never will be. Good movie for sure though.

Definitely worth a watch.

I liked it a lot, as did my wife. There was a decent amount of suspense and the scenes of humanity turning on its own for self preservation added to the tension.

So if we start driving electric cars asap we can avoid this happening?!?

I watched this Saturday night. It definitely wasn't what I expected. I didn't think it was anything amazing but I don't regret watching it at the same time.

I watched it with enough booze to really get upset at the thought of losing my wife and kids.

Ultimately, end of the world stuff we all gonna die no matter how hard we try.

I suppose I’ll be one of the friends at the start in the addition during the family party.

Take care of my own, hug them, love them, and do my best to live out the countdown.

The scenes where people helping out started conspiring to steal his son because he could be their pass to Greenland was tension filled. But yeah, it is really hard to fathom how it would feel in a real life situation where the end of the world was days or hours away.

I think it would be worse. Some people would go nuts. I like how in one scene a group was partying on the roof by the parking structure. A fragment hits in the distance and a girl yells out "Kiss my ass Clarke!". I could see some people get high and laugh it all off. That would probably be the way to deal with it - get stoned out of your mind.
