Just ask your bank how many days to clear ....usually 2-3 biz days.

And now the wait begins. Did your bank give you an estimated time as to when it should clear?

My bank said it literally can take up to six years.

Lmao!

Hello sir, you deposited a cashiers check in 2015…..it turns out it didnt clear… you owe the bank $20k.

My cousin took the cashiers check to his bank with the buyer. The teller said it was good. A few days later they called and said the check was fake. The car had already been re-sold to some poor single mother who used her savings to buy it. The dmv blocked her from registering it and the police gave him the car back. Poor lady got screwed out of over $10k.

Ive been told by the bank out of state checks take even longer to clear. Unless you feel really solid about the buyer id avoid it.

I bought a car once with a cashier check. I had notarized bank statement that went with it. I agreed with the seller to let him keep the title until every cleared and then he sent the title via UPS once everything was settled. This was about 20 years ago though. So times are different now for sure and like others suggested a simple wire transfer is probably easier nowadays....

I've used them to buy vehicles from dealers but never had to take one when selling. The only bank who can verify the check is the issuing bank so they would be the ones to talk to.

I believe a money order is the one that is the more secure method. Its like cash. Therefore if they say its good that should be it

All of them can be forged. You have to wait for it to clear or call the issuing bank to confirm it's legit.

We bought our shop this past December with a cashiers check. Just verify with your bank. Our funds to the seller was instant.

I also bought my 90 coupe from a member on here with a cashiers check. Zero problems.

I sold my 93, Reef blue notch, to a member here this past January, he paid with a cashiers check. My bank told me it would take 7 days for the check to clear. Once the check cleared his transporting company showed up and I then sent the title. Very smooth and straight forward transaction with no troubles.
