Was talking to the guy painting inside of addition. He says suppliers are telling them they may not have inventory by early Summer. The warehouses are emptying out and the TX freeze really put them way behind on production.

If your thinking of buying house paint, don't wait. What a crazy time.

I'm not surprised. I work for an appliance manufacturer, and we're in a historic backorder situation. Instead of vacations due to Covid, folks were remodeling like crazy. We were only shut down for 5 weeks (not consecutive, approx. 90,000 units not built) last Spring, and we can't keep up. Built 820,000 units last year, 200,000 currently in backorder, and current sales projections call for us to build 1.2 million in 2021. We can barely keep up, suppliers are having a hard time keeping up. We've added production hours and a second shift on one of the lines. It's nuts.

I work for an appliance retail chain and we have several thousand appliances in our distribution centers that we can't deliver without the refrigerators.

We're remodeling our upstairs, but I bought the paint months ago. That said, I do visit three local paint/hardware stores frequently (Home Depot, Lowes, True Value) and I'm not seeing paint shortages on the shelves.

It's due to the acrylic polymer resin prices and the petroleum used in packaging shooting through the roof. We ran into the same problem with tape earlier in the year. Our line of tape is manufactured with a similar material shot up 70% this year and is seeing massive shortages. Paint got hit with a perfect storm of many of its ingredients getting hit with price increases and shortages.

Sherwin Williams is expensive, but it's the best paint, by far, I've ever used. It's the only paint I use now for the past 15 yes.

Same here.

I just don't understand with all of the effort put into painting a room/house why you would use cheap paint and have to do it all again a few years down the road.
