As a good American family, we have run out of room in the garage, side of the house and drive way (RV, motorcycle, boat, canoe, specialty car...). So, I'm curious what you guys think about loaning a rare car to a dealership, museum, etc to clear up space as we very rarely drive the car. It'd be REALLY nice to be able to turn the motorcycle around easier without having to move multiple thing around in the garage. At $200+/month, a storage facility is out of the question as I'm not fond of payments. Thought about an enclosed trailer, but there's no place to store it. Thoughts?

It all really depends on your climate in my opinion. In Maryland, it would not be a good idea to store a car in a trailer, shipping container or etc. In order to preserve a car we need a climate control garage.

As far as trailers go in general, I would suggest that as a no... I hear too many horror stories about vehicles getting stolen. My brother and dad found a nice facility a few miles away from where they live for $100 a month.

I would put another 4 post lift in the front of your garage. To me, I would personally rather spend the money on the lift and a garage door set up that won’t interfere with the car nor the lift.

^^^ I dont follow?

I usually put 2 cars in one of our trailers for the winter (November to April). They are nice, but not blue chip cars.

Unfortunately, my driveway is on too much of an incline for a lift.

didn’t you post a picture of your garage setup? I thought you could park two cars deep and you had a couple of car lifts in the back. I was trying to state I would put some lifts in the front of your garage in the first bays. Not outside... But now I’m wondering if the picture of the garage setup was someone else’s.

I wish! My garage is a standard two-bay with a pretty good incline. So much so, I removed the front splitter.

Maybe I'll post a pic later so y'all can have a good laugh. :)

Yeah, I think photos of your garage (inside and outside) would help us offer suggestions.

Additional storage at my house isn't happening without a serious remodel. I'm more interested in out of the box ideas as to where to store, show, temporarily loan a specialty car. And not to any Ford enthusiasts to "store" in their garage in Idaho! Or any or any other state for that matter. :)

I plan on buying an enclosed trailer in the 24-32' range very soon to act as a second garage to store dirt toys and the like.

Ive been renting a spot at a local gated storage lot for $60/month for a few years.. would be a great place to keep it if i buy one.

Storing in a trailer isn't a great idea. It's like putting all of your valuables in a lock box...that can be picked up and moved by anyone.

Look into an app call neighbor where people rent out their private garages on monthly fee

This. People have been doing this forever. My dad used to store a Model T in a little old lady's garage for $7.50/mo.

Ive thought about that and certainly cant disagree. I suppose that's what insurance is for though if something like that happened. Also this place has great security so it's less of a concern for me.

Yeah...insurance is great and all, but you better make sure you have a detailed list of exactly what you store in your trailer.

If you've got more than you can afford to store, maybe you need to consider selling the stuff you don't really need. Your list is pretty big....
RV
motorcycle
boat
canoe
specialty car

What is the "specialty" car? What's your daily driver?
