Hey,
I got a coolant flush from the ford dealer the other day. I went to check on the fluids this morning, cold, and the coolant in the expansion tank is filled to the top. I have an aluminum tank so there is no cold/ hot fill markers. Should I take some of the coolant out of the tank? Usually, I have it half inch to an inch from the top?
Thanks

The land of commies and socialists!
I would get the front end of the car up on an incline some way and burp the system first just to make sure there isn't still an air bubble.

After that if you KNOW the level is good I'd remove some coolant.

Thanks for replying. I did open up the crossover plug and checked for air then brought it up to temp. Seems to be ok.

Seems like most expansion tanks have the cold fill around half or a little more, that’s where I try to keep mine… only real downside to these metal tanks

Yeah, I think they just overfilled the tank. You read about the overheating, bc the system wasnt filled at the crossover, but my assumption was the dealer vacuum flush machine got rid of all air ? Ive still been checking the crossover plug and it has coolant at the top. I have hot heat and no temp issues, so I think Im air free.

the burping process for these 4V motors are always a pain ... dont they sell a device that sucks the air out and replaces it with coolant ? that a consumer can buy ?

yes, they have systems that push or pull coolant through the system, you can find them on Amazon even. I want to say Air Lift or something like that is one brand.

Id burp it myself to make sure. Best is to put the front end up on ramps or drive it onto some wood blocks....open the overflow cap and crossover plug....bring the car up to operating temp and turn the heat on full blast....squeeze the lower radiator hose to help the air out. Turn car off and leave overnight (with cap open and still on ramps/blocks) to let any trapped air out.

i do this process two nights in a row just to be extra sure.
