There's no way we're not alone. Space is BIIIIIIG. The distances are hard enough to comprehend, and then add to it the fact that those distances are increasing as time goes on (IE post big-bang everything is moving away from everything else). Our cosmic horizon is 14b light years, but like the horizon we see on earth, just because you cant see beyond it doesn't mean there's nothing there.

We are almost 80 years in with this UFO stuff and in all that time we don't have one clear, legitimate photo of anything.

How clear do you need?

Look at the Cmdr. David Fravor Tic-Tac-Toe sightings off the coast of San Diego. Even a F18 with the best sensor package of the time gives a meh IR feed of these things (all their other sensor equipment couldnt see it there). This object was tracked simultaneously by multiple F18 and sea based radar, and they say they "See these things all the time".

Yes, we have a society with handheld HD cameras, but the apertures are not great for anything long-distance. In order to shoot long distance and craft like that, you have to have a specific setup, and anyone doing that for the sake of just UFO hunting are immediately labeled kooks, and any great shots they get immediately discounted, so there's that. Plus, deniers will just say its photoshopped anyways. Look at the flat earthers, any pic of a spherical earth is PS'd and the live feed from ISS is realtime Hollywood magic.

Yea I think he said something like were either all alone in the universe or were not. Both are equally terrifying or something like that lol

I go out every night with my binoculars, haven't seen shit.

I think the official term is now "Cosmic Modesty". Considering the size of the universe, its thinking very highly of ourselves to think our planet is the only one with intelligent life. Even Hawking agreed.

I don't want to quote him but IIRC he was a believer of it we have contact with intelligent life it's not going to be on our terms anytime soon and probably not going to go well. If they could detect us and get in here in the time frame of humanities existence we are pretty right ****ed.

This is my belief as well. Any civilization with the technology to traverse the galaxy in a meaningful timeframe would likely be way more advanced than we are. Could end badly for us depending on their motives for coming here. Lol

Its the idea of us looking at an anthill and thinking we are equal species as the ants. We'd just as soon flatten it with a bulldozer to make room for a strip mall or housing development.

But in doing so you are applying humanistic morals and ideals. The necessity for an alien species to need to do anything to us, positive or negative, is slim to none. Id imagine they would just as soon quarantine us just in case, rather than let us participate.

I mean this sort of stuff is so common it gets overlooked.

Summary

Village cries wolf "UFOs are here all the time."
Scientists go and literally set up a 24 observatory and get all kinds of data but frail human subconsciously blanket is very strong. "It's fine, probably government craft. Everyone go back to work."

This universe crap still blows my mind. Where did it all start? It’s impossible. God did it, ok, where did he come from? How can something have no end?

On top of which the idea behind the Universe is greatly limited by our ability to perceive it.

Its also the same reason Aliens haven't communicated with us yet, the chances we could "hear" them with any of our feeble equipment is highly unlikely. That would be like someone from 4000bc picking up wifi.

Maybe it was god, "gods" or random, we'll likely not know anything for certain in a loooong time.

It also does have an end according to the most widely accepted models.

Fun little fact, the universe does not have a center, the 'center' is everywhere, and that isn't because it is endless..

Kinda makes "Stargate" all that more interesting huh ;)

If you believe in the Big Bang theory then indeed wouldn't there still be a center? The universe would forever be expanding...from one point.

No because the big bang was an explosion OF space, not an explosion in space. Kind of like the surface of a balloon as it blows up, (have to think only the surface)

Big bang is a pretty much guaranteed model, beyond our universe, if there is a beyond, we have no idea
