I was going to do this clutch but there was just not enough info out there on it for the mustangs. I searched for weeks and only found one thread on a S197 forum. I didn't want to be a Guinea pig on a 1500 dollar clutch. It gets great reviews on other platforms though. The supra guys and Cts-V guys seem to like them. You have to cut the release bearing retainer a 1/2 inch for it to work. That also scared me a bit. I ended up going with an RXT. I was a little bummed because that Tilton piece sure looks nice. The one piece billet pressure plate is so good looking. Sorry I'm not too much help. Just wanted to pass along what I came up with when I was looking at this clutch. You think you will give it a try?

All the Supra guys reviews is what got me... So I decided to give it a shot... Didn’t measure anything and just cut the tube like the directions say and went to put it together... The TOB contacts the pressure plate about .5” before the trans is bolted up... Contact Tilton and they say you gotta use their hyd TOB... This has been a cluster and am pissed off that I didn’t just go with a Mantic like I had originally planned on..

Do they not realize these cars don't have a hydraulic set up? I wonder if they were confusing it with the S197+?

Also, when I was considering this clutch, I emailed back and forth with Tilton asking if it would work on a 4.6.they said it should. I also specifically asked if the factory release bearing would work and I was told it would. Do you know who you spoke to @ Tilton?

Sorry about your troubles with the Tilton clutch. If you decide to go with the Mantic you won't be sorry. I really like mine.

Had one in my C6Z and loved it... It’s what I was gonna put in tell I saw the Tilton being blown up about how well it drives...

From what I gather it was designed for the coyote and they just figured it’d work... The only difference between all the cars they offer the clutch for is the flywheel...

I emailed with a guy named Kirk. You may want to try getting in touch with him.

Doesn’t have anything to do with the pivot ball

You may want to try an adjustable pivot ball adjusted shorter. That's what it does. If you go shorter it moves the release bearing away from the pressure plate to allow room for a taller clutch.

That really sucks. And it's not like they couldn't have searched for a car to try it out in. I'm sure if they had posted somewhere that they needed a test vehicle they would have had one or two volunteers.

Why reinvent the wheel?

Centerforce DYAD-

1300ft lb of holding power
Sprung hub with dual disc
no adjusting of pivot ball
plenty of clutch fork clearance especially with a magnum
Drives like a Honda
