Prob should put this in politics section

Seems like a lot of states are moving that direction. I never really understood the purpose of a permit so long as the person has some measure of training.

How would one determine if another has "some measure of training"? A permit perhaps?

We were long overdue, Texas loves getting money off you however they can. Liquor sales on Sunday, and extended to 10PM are up next I'll be contacting my state reps on that one, can't tell you how many times I've decided on a Sunday afternoon while smoking a brisket I want a bourbon. Now if we can get on board with doing away with front license plates.

Every session there's a bill to remove the front plate, and it always fails, fast. Law enforcement comes out in mass to protest it.
Why? Only thing I can think of (besides more revenue for state through having to buy more plates, but dunno why LEOs would stand up for that exclusively) is it gives LEOs an easy target for laser

I'm saying that is why LE come out against the bills to remove front plate requirements.

Sorry if I'm confused and not understanding you btw

Ah, I gotcha.

There's usually 3 groups of people that show up for front plate bill hearings.

1. Budget advocates saying how much extra revenue the state would save by only making 1 plate per vehicle.
2. Law enforcement saying how removing the front plate makes it harder to catch criminals.
3. Car enthusiasts arguing against a front plate, with no real standing.

I'm not sure how much money is generated by ticketing those without front plates. I've never seen those hard numbers.

I'm relieved it finally passed. Now, let's just hope Abbott doesn't wuss out and goes ahead with signing it.

My wife and I will still keep our LTCs since it will allow us to carry when traveling to states with reciprocity.

It's a damn shame we have to pass a law to allow people their constitutional rights......

The second amendment does not state "Right to bear arms, as long as one has a permit or shows proper training, shall not be infringed".

I do not believe in any permits or training requirements for firearm purchase/ownership. Training should be recommended, and IMO I think proper firearms use and etiquette should be taught in HS so people dont have a dumb idea of what guns are or how they function and work and how to safely use them. Then within a decade we can have a whole generation of young adults that arent gun-dumb like the current swath of them.

Liberals on suicide watch. Go **** yourselves.

If liberals are on suicide watch because other people can now carry weapons as recognized by the Constitution ... well, the liberals were probably pretty close to it in any case.

You can’t alleviate other folks irrational fears for them.

He will, it's time for this spineless clown to pull his head out of his ass for the next year and make himself look good so he'll have something to stand on when our '22 elections roll out. You definitely don't want to piss off Texas gun owners so this is a step in the right direction. He's already pissed enough Texans off keeping our state locked down for as long as he did. Don't get me wrong I love the permanent "to-go alcohol" bill he passed especially when I get Mexican food, but in reality that was a half assed attempt to keep us happy so he could keep his fetish of not opening the bars. I can't wait to see who is planning on running against him, it'll be an uphill battle I imagine.
