Unless you've been living under a rock, you know the price on EVERYTHING has skyrocketed. It's going to get worse. Ford (along with other manufacturers) have a specific search tool that as a dealer you can list 'trouble' inventory in order for someone to hopefully pick it up. In years past it's been used to sell stuff at an incredible discounted rate. For instance, a Minnesota dealer would post a 4x2 Expedition on there for $4-5k under invoice, because they won't ever move it...

The times have changed. Some dealers have their entire inventory posted on there at INSANE mark ups. Here's a sneak peak. Sales price is circled in red.

The entire economy is red hot right now. Unsustainably so. Inflation is getting out of control. If the gov't decides to pump another $2-5 trillion more dollars into it, hold the hell on.

Agreed. In no way, shape or form is this a postitive thing for the US in the long run...hell, even in the intermediary run.

Yet, media reports I've seen says there's no signs of inflation.

I couldn't even get a gallon of ceiling paint this weekend and was told there was a "shortage" due to increased home construction in the area. Crazy times.

One of the largest Ford dealers here, which usually has around 1600 new Fords in their inventory, is only showing around 90 in stock with very few F150s.

Everything is selling for MSRP or MSRP+ here, even on a shitty Kia

Dealers Before COVID: ADM is just something you have to deal with as a customer. These cars have markup because they're in demand

Dealers Now: What the hell is this plus MSRP crap. How am I supposed to buy other dealers inventory? Highway robbery I tell you!

Not directed at OP but I do lol at the thought of dealers being upset with ADM

Inflation is here. It’s going to be hell. Royal hell.
I know a dealer that 2 years ago sold an F-350 for $62k. They recently bought it back for $64k and reselling for $69k.

Maybe this will spark a renewed interest in people fixing their cars. I can only base that on other places where new cars become prohibitively expensive, people buy less and keep them longer.
Supply will catch up with demand, hopefully soon.

The market is way out of balance. $5k over for a Explorer KR? When the market corrects that Explorer will be worth $1x,xxx in 5 years and people are going to still owe $20k.

Aftermarket Automotive parts have been absolutely rekt supply wise from this. Go into any of the big box stores and you'll see a lot of empty shelves. It'll catch up but repairs are thru the roof

Not really seeing that down here, in march I bought a new leftover 2020 gt, $46k msrp, paid $38k+ttl

March was even a different time than now.

We're down about 80%.

I don't disagree with you.

I'm not upset with dealers doing it. I've had to raise my prices. If I had left them lowered, I'd already be out of inventory.

Classic case of supply and demand.

I work in trucking/warehousing/shipping. It's definitely a supply issue.

The supply chain is broken. Asia is back to working/producing goods but getting that product into US warehouses has been a major issue. The LA port has no less than 30-40 ships at berth at any given moment which is a historical high. Further, all US ports are blasted with work and cannot turn freight container ships quick enough (thanks to slow union labor).

A lot of this will settle down once the supply chain is somewhat restored.... my guess is by end of 2021.

I have been looking for an explorer/pilot for my dad. They are all under MSRP in Chicago, IN, Ohio, WI... basically the whole midwest. I don't know if this is explorer specific but there seem to be many reasonable deals, at least on relatively base 4wd models. Pilots are all under MSRP too.

New 2021 Explorer XLT for 6k less than MSRP.
