McLeod RXT clutch question

So clutch started slipping and squealing recently. Installed the RXT about 15,000 miles ago. That sound about right? Street driving only, ocassional red light race here and there. Drag radials and a little over 700 wheel. I know it all depends on how it's driven, but I expected a few more miles out of it, especially for what it costs.

I have another one new in the box with flywheel and new slave cylinder. Should expect about the same mileage from this one also?

What are your experiences with the RXT?

Not sure if you 500 guys run into the clearance problem because they are taller but on the Cobra you need to clearance the trans face in a couple spots and/or the fork.

As the clutch wears and fingers move back, the TOB/fork can get pinched between the trans and clutch fingers, applying constant pressure.

Happened on mine with a magnum. Discs had tons of life left.

You sure there wasnt any drag? I have about 20k miles on my RXT. No abnormal noise. Haven't noticed slipping yet. How much tq are you making?

Mid 600s TQ. It has run flawlessly since install, just recently started the slipping which feels exactly the same as it did when I had to replace last time. When I floor it, the RPMs climb, but car doesn't accelerate as quickly.

Have had mine for 6 years and 12,000 miles and it's been very good to me. Has gotten hot a couple of times (due to burnout/launch error!), that made getting into gear a little more challenging. But let it cool down and it's back to normal. Running 640 RWHP and 610 RWTQ w/ race tune with stock Eaton.

When I bought the car it had the RXT already on it and the guy who owned the car before me beat on it pretty hard and after about 5 thousand miles it was slipping pretty badly. I sent it back to McLoed for a rebuild (much cheaper than a new one from them, shipping and everything it was about $600). I have had the rebuild in mine for about 33K miles since, and over half of that has been at 656RWHP and no issues. I beat on it pretty hard on the street and a few passes and the track. Occasionally drag radials but the large majority on Nitto555G2's.

It's not going to be the clutch as the issue, and you should expect that's all the life you get, if that's the question. Either it was installed wrong, abused, used in an application beyond it's intended power level, or some combination thereof.

In theory, a clutch should last the life of a vehicle on the street, but I get real life usually means different. But, no way it should be gone at 15k.

I think I shortened it's life when I was acting stupid and did some donuts a few years back. It smelled like burned clutch afterwards.

I am gonna assume this is what made the clutch go early.

Depending how the car is driven will determine the life of the clutch.

Drag racing will definitely shorten the life compared to street driving.
