Definitely more money in parting out then selling it as a whole, but a lot more time invested and the dealing with tire kickers part also. Can get frustrating/overwhelming. You're always going to have stuff left over that no one wants, so you'll have that to dispose of. I probably would have taken the $12k and walked away, cut your loses. Good luck in whatever you choose.

If you decide to part it out how much for the motor and trans?
12k is a lot of money for the headache trying to put that back together.

I haven't put a number on anything in particular simply because I want it to go as a complete unit. I have 2 people at the moment that want to see it run so I'm going to crank it by hand this week and make sure I don't have any issues with that before I try to start it. With that being said both of them are interested in the entire car.

Thanks

Didn't even see your post honestly. I just looked through my messages thinking that's where it was but I realized it was on the post not a PM.

All good man. Gave me time to decide from my couch.
To all the haters, it's his car. He can ask what he wants. Why make it personal? Move on, there is enough negativity in the world. Obviously we are all car guys here. This actually looks like a fun project to those of us who like a challenge. I've fixed worse. Look at prices for any classic car right now. They are nuts. 10k plus for an incomplete basket case fastback. Cobras/terminators are a niche market and fanbase also. Why not fix a 50k mile one. Good luck with your sale man.

Very well said, and I agree fully. The most frequent thought I have when looking at cars listed for sale regardless of site is that the asking price is too high... But I don’t comment. I like to think that the market will decide... if the seller actually wants to sell. Regardless, we’re all enthusiasts here and should treat each other with respect.

OP- I’m sorry about your car and hope you find a buyer who gets it back on the road...

Thanks bud. I'll sit on this thing until I get the time or energy to actually feel like fixing it if I can't get the number I'm looking for in return. If I don't get it I'll honestly fix it myself. I don't really feel like doing that plus I'm getting into real estate and at the moment the liquid funds are more attractive than having an additional project.

Thanks man. Time will tell. Not going to give it away because it's more valuable to me as a project than it is to just walk away from it.

Ouch! Sad to see it. At least you weren't injured in the crash. If you decide to part it out or sell that 4lb lower kit, I'm interested. Not far here in Ohio. I just saw those Terminator coil covers on eBay last night and debating on buying a set. Definitely a nice touch. Glws

That was a stupid comment OP. You should know better.

I read the message you’re referring to and don’t disagree, but feel this whole thread was allowed to get completely out of control. Please take this as constructive feedback- I perceive our mods do great job of enforcing rule #7 of the new market rules but seem to overlook rule #8. I also apologize for pulling this thread off track again.

I agree totally. When I posted that yesterday, it was the first time I had been able to go through the section since the day before. A bunch had happened since then.

I have a 31k 1988 4cyl. Coupe and this engine, trans, and harness would be an amazing transplant! Let me know if you decided to part out and what price you're looking at.
