I agree, combining the sales numbers of the Challenger and the Charger really makes sense. Both the Challenger and the Charger use the same 90s Mercedes Benz-derived platform, and many choose to buy the Charger over the Challenger solely for the useable back seat.

And the Mustang would of died after 2009. There is a reason there is a bottom basement model for all 3 mfg. as without them you could slash those numbers in half and so lose the financial argument to keep them going. Also there is a little thing called CAFE, just ask Fiat how they have been forced to pay multi millions to the Feds because Chrysler can't even begin to fall in line with it, but they are cool as the Hellcat evertything. Not when you are paying close to 100 million a year when you really shouldn't to the Feds.

I agree the CAFE does not help, but look at Corvette, they don't put out shitty base models in the vette, it is way more exclusive and costly, which is fine by me. I just believe too much sales lowers the quality value of the brand, and permanently causes the value to decrease over time as with any sports car. Only sell premium GT's, no "basic" models for cheap.

If the Challenger and Charger are together then are we going to add the sales of the Mustang and the Mach E for the same reasoning?

Nobody cross shops the Mustang and Mach E.

Challenger and Charger are the exact same car with +2 doors and on every forum guys 100% cross shop them.

It's more like combining Mustang Convertible and Hardtop sales.

Noted, but the average person who likes Mustangs or has always liked them but was never able to before, or they need a car that can haul their family will very likely look at the Mach E now. I see the same correlation being made.

Naw, that guy that wants a Muscle Car but needs back seats buys the Charger.

The Mach E is the guy that bought a Fusion Energy and wants a Tesla but can't afford one.

Not everyone likes or wants a poor quality vehicle made by FCA.

If Ford stopped being stupid and made a 4dr sedan with the Coyote or GT500 engines in it, they would be able to add that to their "muscle car" sales figures like Dodge does with the Charger and Challenger.

Fixed that for you.

Dodge literally is leading the game with awards in best "initial quality", "best reliability", best "customer appeal" as well as "most trusted brand".

You can argue the validity of these awards, however they are actual statistical measurements instead of fanboy rhetoric.

And Lord knows GM has tried with thr G8 and Chevy SS. Both sales losers with only a mediocre cult following.

Dodge grand slammed it.

Personally I think the base mustangs suck ass, especially the V6, Ford just does this for volume sales. I wish Ford was more exclusive with the mustang platform. I know some would say "but the average Joe can't afford it"....well too bad. When there is too many of one model, it greatly reduces the mustang platform in my mind. Then you have idiots swapping hoods and front facia with a GT350 or 500, then add a Roush side skirts and call it a stang. There becomes no originality when
every 16year old kid has one. Sorry, I'm not for entertaining the masses of Ford, I wish Ford with get rid of V6, and only sell top model stangs.
Bet you like BMW M5? The M5 is a thing because in the rest of the world the base model is a 520 powered by a 1.6L 4 syl 184hp.

Are Challengers & Chargers or Camaros sold worldwide?
Camaro and Corvette are the only Chevrolet models in EU after the pull out. But can you call 1 as in only one dealer of Chevrolet in Sweden worldwide? Many country in EU dont even have a Chevy dealer as Camaro V8 is M3 money. The V8 tax.

In all fairness I think the pedestrian looks of those cars is what really hurt them....The G8 and Chevy SS looked like something my grandfather would buy. I can appreciate the sleeper aspect, but Joe public definitely wasn't buying it....

Here/there/some other silly place
Again GM had no plans on selling 20 or even 30,000 SS a year like a lot of people for what ever reason keep thinking. They only wanted between 3,500 to 5,000 max a year and other than 2016 (2221 imported) they hit their mark on that goal, it was just to keep Holden afloat and to fill in the unfinished Pontiac G8 GXP contract that was never able to be fulfilled due to Pontiac getting the ax.

+1

Every OEM has their problems and no one is immune to problems. But for any Ford fan to call out any other brand needs to look in the mirror. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Yeah I think there was other stuff going on there with the G8 and SS that made them lackluster in the sales. G8 got boned when Pontiac was axed too, which I think hurt it pretty bad.

Ford had a great sedan platform imo (Fusion, I love ours and we're on our 4th), they should've just done what dodge did and snort a few lines of coke and go "How do we cram this here big ass engine into it and just send it?", instead Ford pulled a Ford and go "Lets make the Mustang an electric SUV!"
