2.75" resonator options

Any manufacturer make a good 2.75" resonator that is not too large in diameter? Seems like very little to choose from. So far it seems Borla and Vibrant are the only ones but they are fairly large in overall diameter size to fit in the mid section of the 500.

I'm not seeing a 2.75" Bottle Type Resonator from Vibrant listed. I'm using the 2.5" x 18" from Vibrant with a 4" OD and have no clearance issues on my lowered 08.
A 4" OD is what I suggest if you can find a pair. I might add that they made a significant difference at low to mid RPM's but still loud at WOT.
I have SW Long Tubes with cats and Corsa Touring mufflers.
I wanted a tasteful exhaust note on idle and mid throttle and loud when I want it and the above noted exhaust gives me the best of both.

Are you looking to add a pair in front of the rear axle? And leaving whatever you have now at the rear?

My unique system is based on a 3-inch Bassani exhaust, except I never used their mufflers. Instead, I added a pair of 22-inch long chambered mufflers (4-inch round) in front of the rear axles, this muffler design originally used on the '69 Z28. On the rear, I have a pair of 16-inch long resonators (also 4-inch round) at the tips. If your pipes are 2.75-inch, I'd just go with 3-inch round mufflers with a 4-inch diameter case. I'm sure they're quite a few to choose from.

I'm got a 3" mid-pipe going into 18" long 3" i.d. Vibrant resonators with a 3" x 2 3/4" reducer going into the over axle pipe. No reason you couldn't use the reducer in front too if your mid-pipe is 2 3/4".

Agree with both guys above.
If you want to keep max power but just reduce volume:
3” resonators with 2.75” reducers
If you prioritize reduced noise and willing to sacrifice a few horspers:
2.5” resonators with 2.75” expanders
Good luck.

That's what I think I may end up doing...one of my options. The vibrant 2.75 Ultra quiet resonator is the only one in 2.75" in and out and I think they would be too big under my car since they are ovalled with a 4.75 OD / 6.5 OD in diameter.

My other option is to go back to my stock 2010 2.5 OTA pipes and mufflers off my 2014 H pipe with a reducer at the connection.

Current setup is a 2014 H pipe on a 2010 with Lethal OTA (2.75) pipes and stock 2012 mufflers. This increased the sound and deepness of the exhaust tone a lot more than I expected. Idle to 2K is a little too loud for what I wanted even though it sounds great. Both the 2012 stock and 2012 Ford Racing Touring mufflers I tried are too deep and loud. I would really like to put the Ford Racing Touring mufflers back on if I can quiet them down a little...but I don't want any more deep base tone.

I'm wondering if the Vibrant 3" would make it worse or if using Vibrant 2.5" resonators with reducers would help out more.

That's exactly where I'm stuck at right now....and I always choose the WRONG way in the end.

Honestly, I’m reading this as that you have a catted 2014 mid pipe and stock mufflers? Basically a stock 2.75” 2011+ GT500 exhaust?
If that’s too loud for you, then I’d say you should definitely forget the 3” and go with 2.75” resonators in the 2.75” OTAs and keep the stock 2.5” OTAs as is.
Stock manifolds to catted h-pipe to resonators to stock mufflers should be very tame.
Even going back to 2.5” resonated OTAs won’t cost you power that you’d notice on the street, as it’s mainly a volume difference.

I don't like that fact that the Ultra Quiet doesn't have a taper that can act as a ramp if you were unfortunate to hit something high enough to make contact. Other than that it's a good resonator. I have one on my ecoboost F-150, but it's got to be a foot from the pavement.

I checked an it is too tight under my car. I could maybe get a 4" round resonator on but nothing wider..plus I can only go 15.5 inches since my Lethal Performance OTA pipes have bends and I would need to leave them in.

I did some measurements..

Lethal Performance OTA pipe - 2.75" OD all the way to the mufflers..two piece with a slip on connector at the axles.

2012 Mufflers - inlet is 2.75 OD but they have a narrow spot before the inlet and it drops down to 2.5" OD. Oulet is 3" OD that opens to the 4" OD tip.

2010 Mufflers - slip on - not the ball and cup - they are 2.5" OD inlet continuous and 2.5" OD outlet opening to the 4" OD tips.

After a lot of thought I am going to do this first to see what the results are. (I am starting to think the Lethal OTA 2.75 pipes may be contributing a lot to the increase in noise and throaty sound - more so maybe than the X to H pipe swap.) I am going to cut my old factory OTA pipes down a little and use a SS connector adapter / converter with my existing band clamps and put the 2010 mufflers back on. No welding and it is about $30 total for the adapters. Once I see what that is like I'll determine my next move.

I'm thinking maybe I should have ordered the factory OTA pipes instead of the Lethal Performance SS pipes. Cost was about the same. I'm holding off on the resonators for now since it will require cutting and probably welding for me.
