F150 speedometer problems

A few weeks ago my 2012 F150 speedometer started not coming up to 0 when I crank it and reading about 15 MPH slower than my GPS speed. I’ve run the engineering mode gauge sweep and both the tachometer and the speedometer twitch for a few seconds before doing the sweep. The speedometer stops 15 MPH short of a full sweep.

Has anybody had a problem like this or know what I need to do to fix it? Thanks

I’d run to an auto parts store and have them load test it to start.

Well I got the battery tested and they said it was bad. Put in a new battery but it’s still doing the same thing.

This is what it looks like. Instead of coming up to zero when it’s cranked it stays all the way down.

That’s odd, @13COBRA any recommendations? Anything needing reprogrammed do to the new battery? I know on the 13 Gen there is a battery life something or other that needs reset. Not sure on the 12th Gen.

I'd be nervous the dash is fried from a low voltage issue. I've seen it happen before, not very common, but has happened.

The 2005/06 FGTs were notorious for it.

My tech said you'll need to take it to a Ford dealership to do a BMS (battery monitor system) reset.

Just wanted to give an update on this. Finally had time to take it to the dealer. They said they did the battery monitor system reset and it did not fix the issue. Said my instrument cluster was bad and it would be about $1000 to replace it.

Damn. Maybe check used? See if you can find one at a junkyard with around the same mileage or someone can program it so you aren’t down.
