I currently have a magnaflow catback system on my 04 cobra which I would consider to be a 4/10 in volume. I'm looking to make the vehicle louder, but all the O\R mid-pipes seem way too loud. I live in the city and I just don't see that working.

What would you guys recommend to make an exhaust setup that's a 6 or 7 out of ten on the loudness scale? So far my thoughts are:

1. Add a magnaflow catted x pipe... would this add a good amount of volume or would the increase be pretty minimal/barely noticeable and not worth it

2. Run a catted x-pipe with something like stingers, but from the Youtube videos I've seen, seems a bit on the loud side

Any insights appreciated! Thank you!

I run the magnaflow street system (a bit aged as the mufflers are hollow now) and a O/R H. I’d say you are right it is loud and stingers are undoubtedly louder.
My next set-up for O/R will contain a set of manga packs welded into the mid-pipe. I don’t see many videos containing people using resonators on our cars on YouTube maybe some here may have that experience.

Edit: so I did run stingers on a O/R X that was a modded magnaflow catted X. It was undoubtedly quieter than my current H pipe with stingers. I had to ditch them as it was 10/10 all the time; the magnaflows are 6-7/10 until you get on it then it’s too loud. This may be due to my old mufflers, but I’d imagine a magnapack as a resonator would drop the sound a bit.

Catted X plus Stingers is well beyond medium loud. I think a catted mid pipe will give you what you want. Or even a mid pipe with some kind of resonators welded in as mentioned. I ran a stock mid pipe with my Stingers for a while and I was surprised at how quiet the car got.

If you can weld some bullet style resonators into the mid-pipe that will give it a better tone but it will still open up when you get into it

I had a Magnaflow catted x paired with a Magnaflow catback. It was way too quiet. I changed the catback to Borla stingers and I couldn’t be happier. Nice smooth tone and has good volume when getting on it.

I would go off road mid pipe if you can still get it.

with long tubes it isn’t that loud unless on throttle.
Will get attention

I have a set of catted mid with these it’s Honda quiet

Might want to add a little more about your whole setup. I've had the same Magnaflow CB with a UPR Offroad X-pipe (stock manifolds) at 500 hp and I'd say it was 5/10 cruising and a 7/10 ripping on it. Went to a catted Bassani x-pipe with stock manifolds at ~650hp with cams and was like a 4-5/10 and never woke up the same even ripping on it. It did sound way smoother though. I have ARH long tubes and a off road 3" into the same CB (it necks down into the 2.5") at 700hp+ and it's back to a 5-6 cruising but stupid loud when I'm ripping on it. But I'm also solid axle so the pipe run is different.

Just change the mufflers to Loudmouth 2, they will slip right on.
Will get you to 6-7 of 10

Ha! I was just going to say consider a LM2. LM1 is too loud and harsh, but the LM2 is nice IMO.

BBK LT's + X, Magnaflow catback

Everyone says "It's loud"

It's not Flowmaster loud...it buzzes my ears for a few after driving it. It doesn't make any annoying sounds or anything but you can hear it for sure when you get on it. It's decently quiet in 5th at 55mph

I have a couple of these installed in my off road X pipe and they help tame it a little.

I run it with a Steeda/Borla Touring catback which is a little louder than my old Magnaflow system but not really loud.

Catted or even these resonators in with a Borla Stinger setup is LOUD.

i have a catted bassani x pipe and recently switched from a bassani catback to borla stinger catback. the borla stinger/catted xpipe sounds awesome. exactly this car should sound in my opinion. I'd call it a 7-8 out of 10 in terms of volume. the exhaust note sounds perfect though, not blatty at all.

That’s what the prior owner did with my car. He had a Magnaflow catback with a catted X pipe and he took off the Magnaflow mufflers and the SLP’s slipped right on.

You guys have given me some really good suggestions I appreciate it!

I ended up adding a magnaflow catted-x to the magnaflow catback. It did add some volume for sure.

I think the car sounds amazing from the outside and family/friends have mentioned they think it’s pretty loud when you get on it. (Granted they haven’t heard many of the louder setups)

However, from the inside, when I have the windows up, it is a little quieter than I’d like. Very easy to talk in the car etc. and I find myself driving faster just to get more sound.

Replacing the mufflers with the loudmouths is a really intriguing option I might try next to get a little more volume!

It sounds great. It's louder than the Stingers I used to have. My IG page has some exhaust clips 3_svts

The Mystichrome Coupe with the front plate has Borla Stingers with a H-pipe
The Mystichrome Coupe without the front plate has the X pipe and Magnaflow/SLPs.
