I'm interested in how SVT went from 500 hp in 2007 to 540 in the KR and the 2010, and to 550 in 2011. Were there any internal modifications to the engine, or was it all external? Just a tune? Different pulleys? Anything else? I ask because this seems like a safe guide to a little more hp and tq.

Ford added the CAI system from the KR to the regular GT500 to squeeze out 40 more hp in 2010. not sure where the extra 10 came from. maybe tuning? only other change that im aware of was the change to an aluminum block.

you will need to retune the vehicle if you add a CAI i believe. if you really want to enjoy the car, just do a basic pulley package (pulley, tune, plugs, CAI). you will really love the car then. couldnt believe the change it made to my car. i can easily change the CAI and tune back for smog purposes ;)

I agree with Steve. I ran my 2010 with a basic pulley, tune and cold air for 6 or 7 years before swapping to a TVS and unleashing the ups and downs joys of a modified supercharged Mustang.

was just looking at Revan's website. another thing i added to my car was Cobra Jet throttle body. its pricey but it will waken the throttle up and i dont believe you need to tune it to use it. mines brightly polished and i leave it on for smog checks with no issues. this is a nice mod that you can appreciate/feel, if you dont want to tune the car

yeah im not too interested in the "downs" aspect lol. been there done that on other cars. dont really want to do that again. im super happy with the car as is. a tvs would be really nice but for the $ and hassle not really worth it for me. plus the car gets driven so little that its still a blast when i do take it out lol.

I got my stuff from JLT Pulley CAI and tune. Tucker know his stuff. All smog stuff on the car and I live in Ca so I have to put the stock air box back on and it passes smog. I got a new MAS so I don't have to swap them out every time. I have 556 at the tires. More than enough for how narrow the tires are. This thing has so much power its nuts.

I knew there must be more to the difference than a CAI. According to performance.ford.com, the extra 40 hp came from "revised ignition and air/fuel calibration" (a tune), a less-restrictive exhaust, AND a CAI. It's still great that the motors are identical internally.

11-12's had wideband O2 sensors. Probably allowed for a higher power, safer, tune.

well yes of course. you cant just throw a CAI on the 07-09s without adjustments in the tune.
