Welp! I'll add some sauce to this post. My 2014 went "boom" 2 weeks ago. Completely my fault for letting my ego get the best of me for 1 and for not taking care of my maintenance updates for 2....

2014 w/45,000 miles on the odo
Full Bolt on (TB, CAI, 2.5pulley, LTH, Xpipe, Cat Delete, Tune...)
Dyno 700rwhp

Was playing around on the highway
Did a pull, 60mph in 3rd, and shifted at 7K
Shifted into 4th and the engine lost it
Smoke seen out my rear view mirror
Engine shut off
I rolled to the exit and into a parking lot with a trail of oil :((

Towed it to my performance shop and was told something (cant remember) shot out the side of the block.

After discussing the re-build plan, I was told the following parts would provide a stronger motor that was built for "racing" and would hold up better than the stock block/internals that I had.

I am interested to know what you think of the proposed list:

- Ford OEM 5.8L Engine Block
- Ford OEM Crankshaft
- Diamond Pistons
- Manley H Beam Rods
- King Racing Rod and Main Bearings
- ARP Main Studs, Head Studs, Side Bolts
- Cometic Head Gaskets
- Machine Shop Services:
Balance Rotating Assembly
Torque Plate Hone Cylinders
Deck Cylinder Heads
- Removal and Disassembly of Engine
- Blueprint and Assembly of Short Block
- Assembly and Installation of Engine
- Ford OEM Oil Pickup Tube and Oil Cooler
- Break In Oil
Sorry to hear about that happening, definitely not a good idea shifting at 7k with that power level. Mind if ask who tuned your GT500 and how many miles are on it and what fuel you use.

Your engine rebuild looks good, have you pulled the cylinder heads to see if they got damaged? I know sometimes that happens, but hopefully all is good. I'd also add billet oil pump gears and a billet sprocket, also upgrad your chain guides. Since you're building the engine, might as well do everything at once.

yea i don’t know what I was thinking honestly. It was running great since I added all the mods over a year ago. Expensive lesson learned

Sorry to hear this as well. 700 rwhp sounds like a lot specially for 91? Different plugs you put in?

Well at least you'll really be able to turn it up with the new engine. Still sucks what happened.

Im willing to bet the fuel had a lot to do with it. I have seen multiple people make lots of power on stock stuff. They all had a a few things in common. Good fuel, cold spark plugs, and low timing. Id be curious what the top of the pistons look like if you could even make heads or tails of them at this point.

I cant agree more and the stock hotter plugs didnt help im sure. Rpm too with to much timing.

Id like to see a show of hands who have actually blown up / broke a rod on a e85 fueled 13/14 gt500 with a stock blower ect. At around 750-830 rear wheel horsepower I bet there isn't many if any at all. I'm willing to bet that most of the problem is the person behind the wheel (running shit gas, bouncing it off the rev limiter, not letting it be at operating temp before beating the piss out of it, hot plugs, not paying attention to audible knock, not doing general maintenance on the fuel filter, cheaping out on shit like injectors and tuning ect). Face the facts you can buy a gt500 but you cant buy common sense.

The list would probably be very small, obviously shit happens when your over 800whp. But running E85 and keeping your WOT shifts at 6k will help your engine live a long time.

Exactly why I'm going E-85 now myself. Running low 700rwhp and just dont like running it hard on 93 Octane. Only takes one bad tank of Gas and no bueno.

Yup, detonation and stock rods don't go good together lol. The only thing I always do is test every fill up. The station I get E85 at is always at 85 to 90%. I'm definitely lucky to have such good fuel.

Now I feel like upgrading everything to e85 lol. Injectors and bap. Probably a new fuel filter too since it's probably original

i would it is cheap insurance. jms boost a pump and a canton fuel filter. 1050x or 1300's.... good for a solid 800 on e85
