decades.

what i said is a statement of absolute fact. if you want bang for the buck you will not find it in a mac store.
my wife uses macs exclusively as a photographer. she likes it and happy wife happy life but its easily 3-5x the cost of anything comperable PC related.

do be fair i build my own stuff but even if you buy a lenovo or custom game pc you're going to end up with a better unit than a mac especially if you spend the same dime.

I run a Alienware 17”, but I need something like this work. I’d like to try Apple, but our cad 3D program doesn’t support it. It’s been a great unit.

This is so true. Before 2000 the only people with Apple II or Mac's were in Newspaper/publishing/media and print. And they paid TOP dollar for them and the software selection could be counted on 2 hands.

and to those of you saying Mac's/Apple are virus free....why would a hacker waste time on a platform that is not popular? As Ios got popular, it became targeted just like windows

and who buys a computer as an investment? Seriously? An '89 Notchback is a good investment. But if you bought one over a minivan back in the day and you had a wife and 3 kids and it was your only car...well you are a shitty person.

@quick94gt Buy what YOU need. If you went 10 years without a computer then it is clear that you are not a gamer or doing any data mining. You check emails, watch youtube, and surf the web. You dont need to spend 2k to do that. Intel and AMD. Nvidia and AMD. Corsair and ASUS. outside of that, youre just paying someone to assemble it, because there are only a handful of players in the game.

I used to work in prepress and that industry's reluctance to switch to PC's is hilarious. Many still believe Macs are faster in those programs despite that not being true for 20 years. My old firm did a feasibility study on switching to PCs in an attempt to lower hardware costs and while PC's then blew the top performing macs out of the water in Photoshop and Illustrator as well as RIP processing they couldn't switch because none of the operators were proficient in Windows.

OP, it's hard to recommend a computer based on what you use it for. Windows machines are just fine in terms of longevity, just stay away from some of the super cheap budget brands that utilize lower quality power supplies and supplement software costs with bloatware that will ultimately take the system down with it. That's a problem you don't have to worry about on Macs but then again, you're paying a premium for that. It all depends on your budget and what you plan on using it for.

I have an old built i5 PC OC'd, its on 24/7 as it is my mini Plex Server among other things. Still runs smooth as it did when I first built it 5-6 years ago. Have over 10tb's of pics and video's and other crap, and no, not PR0N lol

Used to be a gamer, now, I really dont care much about it. But if gaming is your thing, PC is the best way to go.

If you want a simple "it works" computer that looks fancy and very simple to use, iMac all the way. Not overstuffed with crap ad's, 3rd party software and lasts for year's and year's. Especially if you have Apple products, works smoother having everything synchronized.

If you want to get technical, building a PC would be much cheaper and you can customize it however you truly want it for. If you dont want to deal with that or don't know, get an Alienware. An Alienware will still be cheaper than an iMac and "faster". I would stay away from Lenovo or any similar brand.

I just bought a Macbook Air, love it. Mainly bought it for Final Cut Pro even tho I already own Adobe PS and Cyberlink for PC. Just more things to play with.

OP has said he knows nothing about computers and you dummies start talking about custom builds, gtfo lol

OP just buy an iMac, plug it in and enjoy. You sound like me who has been left behind technologically so simple and intuitive are what I’ after and the apple fits that bill. It’s not overpaying if it doesn’t make you mad as hell everytime you use it

I've used that site before. ^^ Works pretty good.
You can buy off the shelf and just do a full system reload to get rid of bloatware.

I'm not an apple guy. I don't like their cooperate mindset. This mostly comes from my experience with an iPod over 20 years ago, but I'm still pissed.

Move on, nothing to see here.
