Am I crazy? I’m not seriously shopping but if a business goes through in 2 or 3 months I may be interested in a sporty family saloon.

RedEye: 20x11 wheels 797hp looks great fits 5 comfortably, looks great, but it’s a big car, turning on a dime won’t happen.
G80 M3: Over delivers with its currant stats(seeing 3.6/11.6), steering is dialed, amazing grip, rail like handling, carbon buckets, decent size back seats, and it has a clutch(my main draw). But front end is bold(can be hidden a bit with dark paint) and rest of styling may break it.

Both about $80k plus minus.

Thoughts?

I really like the 2021 G80 M3. Including the front grill. Strange, but I like the front end in yellow but not as much in the green. Overall it's much more refined (exterior and interior) over the dated Charger. You can't even compare the suspension and handling with the Hellcat Red Eye. The info displayed on the G80 M3 instrument cluster can be daunting. But, the Hellcat Red Eye is the Hellcat Red Eye. One wild sedan. Different strokes for different folks.

I think you should consider the importance of hauling people versus hauling ass. Which one of these will you be doing more often? That should be the answer you need. The charger will do both, the bmw is a smaller car.

I still dont understand the BMW grille thing. They just keep ruining that car and the public tells them they hate it. I know they will sell a ton but you wonder at what point will sales downturn due to the styling.

I say Hellcat just because they are a total "F you" to the EPA in every way, shape and form. I also love the wide body Charger styling/look.

And there are quite a few people who track the Charger/Challengers. Last trackcross i was at there was a guy in a non-wide version and it was hauling the mail. Set of tires and pads were all he needed. The ZF 8 speed is also one of the greatest slushboxes ever made. Just snaps gears when needed and no fluff.

Get a Tesla or Genesis G80. The G90 is my next car as comfort is my new fast.

OK Bozos, stop clowning around.

The Chargers are just "meh" looking to me, however that new M3 give the Charger a run for its money in the looks department.

I was thinking of getting a Miata or a Raptor. Not sure which. What do you guys think?

/Sarcasm

Two different cars, completely.

If you want speed, get the HC. If you want something extremely refined with more creature comforts, get the M3. Just please, use your ****ing turn signal if you buy the M3.

The M3 is so ugly and heavy. You might as well go with the Charger Hellcat. If you want a real BMW, get a M2 Competition.

it would likely boil down more to if you want a raw brute of a car get the HC as due to it being so traction limited unless he plans to run around on a drag radial the true on the street performance of both may be rather similar from a stop or even lower mph roll.

You selling the Tremor?
No. Looking if I get some extra cash down the road.

I loved driving my fiesta st. Looking for something as fun in a family sedan vehicle.

The two are a bit different in size aren’t they? If I’m spending 80 ish I’m likely more drawn to a CPO E63s
Or an RS7. Would love to find one with a stick that’s not GM.

Actually want a car that drives like the GT3 has a stick and 4 doors. Too much to ask for?

4 doors compliant?

The RS7 is another great choice. I’ve also seen a few RS6 avants running around and wow do they look good for a wagon.

The next daily for me will likely be E63s or RS6 avant. I do like the M5 too but it is much more minimalist looking in my opinion.

in the darker colors the M3 is growing on me, almost one of those so ugly I like it ways for the front end. The rest of the car looks great and the reviews are pouring in as nothing but positive. I just think it would be on the small side for me with two kids in car seats.

I like your approach though of wanting a 4 door that still feels relatively fast and wanting it to feel a bit nimble too. I think you’d be underwhelmed with the charger HC in the handling department. They are how ever roomy and comfortable.

I've had my X3M Competition for two weeks now. I really like it. Interior is on another level. That alone would drive me towards the BMW vs. the Charger.

The S58 is an amazing engine. Sound is incredible when it's angry. Calibration could use some work. A little laggy in the bottom revs. But once it winds up, tons of fun. There are many tuners out that can fix that. If you have the stomach for that sort of thing.

Interesting: rear legroom
M5 36.5
M3 35.6
RS7 37.0
HC Redeye Widebody 40.1

This tells me the new M3 is bigger than people think.

In my opinion, if you want something with a clutch, buy something with a clutch. Once the new car excitement wears off, you will miss the manual and fast shifts don't replace the manual feeling.

Looks are subjective, but I am not a fan of the huge grills BMW is using. The below video (they're showing an M4, but close enough) by Prior Design has renderings of potential new front bumpers and about any of them are better than factory, IMO. The video is in German, but if you start at about 3:25 he shows the stock car and then starts going through different renderings.

This.

I'm having that exact problem with my 1320 Challenger.
