We only offer either $100 deductibles or $100 disappearing deductibles. I prefer the disappearing, because it incentivizes the customer to bring the car to us.
I don't really care who I get the money from, whether it's the customer or the warranty company, it all looks the same to me.
We got an extended warranty, through Alpha, when we bought my wife's 2013 Santa Fe turbo from a local Hyundai dealer. The factory warranty had expired. The car was purchased/owned locally, one owner, and was serviced regularly at the dealership.
We got the warranty due to known problems with the engines failing. We'll, at 178K the rod bearings failed. She put 76K on the car.
Had the car towed to a Hyundai dealer, as we were out of state at the time. We had to get a rental to get home. The car got a complete longblock from Hyundai. We had the rental for a week.
I picked up the car today an paid $0.00 for the rental, paid the Hyundai dealer $0.00 for parts and labor, and paid $0.00 deductible.
We are money ahead now and the warranty is still in effect.
