I will be attempting to remove the SC of my Cobra so that I can send back to KB for a rebuild. This is my first time removing a roots style blower, any advice on simplifying this process or precautions I should be aware of?

It's heavy. Like 150lbs heavy and you will need a cherry picker or some helping hands to make sure it down bang its way out.

You will have to pull the lower manifold.

Yeah (heavy) that I know! I plan on having some help, the lower manifold is what had me a bit worried from my understanding it all comes out as 1 piece. Seems like there is a lot of clearance though?

Yes, KB has to be 1pc since the elbow doesn't come off the let you get the fuel rails out and separate the upper from the lower.

For my Whipple I have to remove the driver side rail and loosen the passenger side. Then I slide the blower under the rail. I don't consider it too bad. This is with the whole unit sitting on a bench.

Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully the weather holds up and I can start disassembly this weekend.

KB is not a roots style blower sorry a pet peeve of mine. Also not 150lbs not even close. My 2.8LC was 56lbs and adding lower intake and intercooler maybe 65lbs total. The easiest way to pull the non-mammoth KB is remove throttle body and CAI, remove the 10 bolts from lower intake to heads and pull it up as a unit. Once out pull the KB and remove the lower manifold and intercooler and fuel rails. Takes 2 hrs if you are taking your time. A cherry picker does help since you are leaning over the car. I have done it both ways and cherry picker saves your back.

My bad bud twin screw
Really appreciate the above advice though! I didn't think it weighed that much either but truly couldn't remember? If I can pull that thing out in 3 hours and not ruin anything I would be extremely happy. My next concern after that would be shipping it back to KB.

haha just busting your balls about roots/TS. The best was to ship it is expanding foam or massive bubble wrap and then box. I prefer encasing in foam.
