This article really struck me.

So they ban ICE and can't make EV's in numbers...what happens? It didn't even talk about the Cobalt produced by child labor in Africa.

Redwood Materials aims to recycle parts for electric vehicle industry
  • Former Tesla exec JB Straubel is making his mark now with privately-owned Redwood Materials.
  • The company is helping find cobalt, lithium, nickel and other minerals and metals used in electric vehicle batteries. Redwood inked its latest deal to recycle scrap and defective battery cells with Envision AESC, which manufactures batteries for the Nissan Leaf.
  • "To make the batteries the world needs in ten years, the industry will need 1.5 million tons of lithium, 1.5 million tons of graphite, 1 million tons of battery-grade nickel and 500,000 tons of battery-grade manganese. The world produces less than a third of each of those materials today. New battery materials sources are highly valued and desperately needed," estimates Cairn ERA's Sam Jaffe.
  • Redwood's description of its its mission: "We at Redwood are planning ahead to address the problems and opportunities coming when millions of EV’s batteries need an end of life solution and when the electronics piled up in your drawers at home find a new life. We have an appreciation for the incredible scale of materials involved in the transition of the whole world to sustainable energy and we know it is not too early to plan for 'un-manufacturing' the many Gigawatt-hours of batteries being built today."
  • The massive disruption in the electric vehicle industry is expected to test investors.

So all these car Co.'s boasting they're going to be " all electric " by 2025 / 2030 / etc., don't have a source for batteries ?????????????

No do they have a source for the chips , that operate these piles of shit .
The chips used today will be obsolete in 5 years. The funny thing is that I still see the odd model T at a car show or in a parade, in 100 years I bet we still see those model Ts but a 2013 Tesla will be long gone due to 100 parts that are obsolete and these cars are useless. The best part is the “green” car is the one that is throw away after 10 years LOL. People are dumb.

My personal conspiracy theory about what will happen:

With the success "they" had in shutting down large cities and forcing people to stay in their own living spaces, I feel "they" are getting a grasp on what can be gotten away with. I can see a future where ridesharing/carpooling can be forced, perhaps in the name of conservation. Maybe if IC engines are outlawed and the electricity infrastructure can not handle the load required (maybe by design) for most adults to have their own EV, maybe people will be told to stay home, they don't need to have the personal freedom to drive around where/when they wish. The sad thing is, most people will be happy to oblige.

Yeah they are. For example, you can still buy obsolete parts for that 100 year old Model T.

What's funny is that Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe. A hydrogen fuel cell car still uses rare earth metals, but is easily refueled and has pure water as the only byproduct. Yet these toxic ass electric cars are hailed as the future... go **** off and die.

And guess what happens as these car companies and every other company being forced to use lithium batteries fight for them. There won't be any cheap EV cars.

Oh, and the electric utilities are supposed to be building out 1,000's of gigawatts of battery storage for wind and solar. Guess what is gonna happen to your electric bill!!!!!!!

It makes you want to cry.

I can see this happening. I was thinking along the same lines. I also could see them wanting to limit mobility severely based on having more control but masking it as conservation like you said or "Climate change" even if the materials are somehow available.

I have said this for a long time. I still don't understand why Hydrogen wasn't pushed harder. Guess the powers at be want electric..

Thanks, I read that last year. I still think there is a lot more to it then what that article states why EV is being pushed over Hydrogen.

EV won the race to market with a viable product. EV batteries burn, but at least they don't explode with as much vigor.

Yes but there is a big difference between mechanical parts that are obsolete and electronic parts that are obsolete. A Machine shop can fabricate any part for that Model T. Keeping the control system functioning on a Tesla is a different story.

That is why poor people will take it up the ass when 10-15 year old EV's are all that are available to them.

Now you're talking about reproductions.

Since we're talking about the chips failing, what can we do with all the late eighties Fox bodies now that the IC's have failed on them?
